It’s a quiet day’s racing on Sunday 21 December with only Lingfield Park and Fakenham providing the two National Hunt fixtures for the day.
However, there are still some competitive races taking place and our GG Lucky 15 for the day picks out its four best bets, as we count down the days to Christmas.
Lingfield Park Racing Tips (Sunday 21 December 2025)
Four hurdle races, two chases and a National Hunt Flat race make up Lingfield’s seven-race card that kicks off at 12.30pm. We pick out our best bets for the day at Lingfield here.
2.00 Lingfield – Has Troke (1pt win – 8/1)
A shock 16/1 winner at Lingfield back in February, the Alex Hales-trained Has Troke hasn’t been sesen on the track since, but he will return to the same venue for the 2.00pm race and will look to make it two wins on the bounce. Given a 5lbs rise for that run, he will have to deal with a mark of 102 and it’s unlikely this race collapses like that one did back in February in soft going. However, plenty of Sunday’s rivals have been struggling for any sort of form and Has Troke could be capable of returning to the track and getting his head in front.
2.30 Lingfield – Diplomatic Ash (1pt win – 11/4)
Gary & Josh Moore’s Diplomatic Ash was denied last time out when second at Fontwell, but he can use that as a springboard to victory in the 2.30pm race at Lingfield. He’s 5lbs higher than his last win over fences, which came back in March, but apart from a fall at Uttoxeter two starts ago he’s become a pretty consistent handicap chaser. That recent run came off the back of six-month lay-off, so he should come on significantly, and whilst he’s got top weight for this event, he looks more than capable of claiming the win.
3.00 Lingfield – Tahmuras (1pt win – 12/1)
A former winner of the Grade 1 Tolworth Hurdle, Tahmuras has failed to kick on in recent seasons, but he’s been slipping down the handicap at a rate of knots and looks dangerously well handicapped for the 3.00pm at Lingfield. Recent form figures of PPP in 2025 certainly don’t give you much hope, but he’s now 8lbs lower than before that run of pulled-ups began, so a mark of 135 looks workable, if he can recapture some form. His last outing came in the Peter O’Sullevan at the Coral Gold Cup meeting at Newbury, so Sunday’s 3.00pm event will certainly feel like calmer waters, and if Paul Nicholls can get him firing again then he has to be a huge challenger, if returning to form.
Fakenham Racing Tips (Sunday 21 December 2025)
A seven-race card lights up Fakenham racecourse and it all kicks off at 12.15pm, but our best bet on the card runs in the 2.15pm contest.
2.15 Fakenham – Frere d’Armes (1pt win – 11/4)
Dan Skelton and Heidi Palin teamed up with Frere d’Armes to victory in the 2.15pm at Fakenham last season and that trio will do battle again in Sunday’s contest and can duly retain their crown. A winner off a mark of 122 in the race 12 months ago, Frere d’Armes will line up off top weight here, but does take his chance off 121, so is very well handicapped to run a big race again. Last seen finishing fourth in the Grade 2 Elite Hurdle at Wincanton, this will be more recognisable surroundings for the gelding back over jumps and he should relish a return to Fakenham and Palin, who claims 7lbs, can pilot him to victory again.
