Lingfield Racing Tips (Wednesday 3 December 2025)

Nine races take place during Lingfield’s all-weather fixture with the action getting under way at 11.30am.

1.30 Lingfield – Spirit Of Athene (1pt win – 11/1 Paddy Power, 888sport, 10/1 generally)

Ed Walker’s Spirit Of Athene was only ninth of 14 at Chelmsford on her debut last month but that was in Starlight Time’s novice stakes – a Class 2 contest worth almost £16,000 to the winner and run in a fast time. Four horses from that race have run well subsequently – fourth placed Knight Of Glory won at Lingfield when heavily punted yesterday (11-8f), seventh home Cotai Lights was a three and a half-length scorer at Newcastle (9-2), eighth placed Room Fourteen finished a 16-1 third to Knight Of Glory, while 12th placed Itica was backed from 16-1 into 15-8 favouritism (advised each-way in this column) when a close second at Newcastle. Spirit Of Athene, sent off at 22-1 for that 1m Chelmsford race, missed the break and ran green and will know more today. Her yard’s runners are performing better now after a quiet spell, and second time out is usually the best time to side with their juveniles. Stall 1 isn’t ideal, but I expect her to run a big race if Kieran Shoemark can get ger away from the ‘swamp’ on the inside rail.

Ludlow Racing Tips (Wednesday 3 December 2025)

A seven-race card comes from Ludlow on Wednesday afternoon, with some decent jumping action for punters to get stuck into.

1.50 Ludlow – Magical Maggie (1pt win – 4/1 generally)

Magical Maggie has been off the track since running third at Market Rasen in July of last year but Alastair Ralph’s eight-year-old has a fine record when fresh and is taken to defy the 501-day layoff. She was a winner of a Southwell bumper at 25-1 on her racecourse debut back in March 2022 and her two subsequent seasonal debuts also resulted in victory – a six and a half-length 3-1 success in a Uttoxeter maiden hurdle in December 2022 and a 14-length soft-ground 2m Ludlow verdict in December 2023 (also when a 3-1 chance). She’s two from two at her local track and her patient running style could be an asset today, as that should mean that she’s switched out wide to challenge on the better ground. There are a few front-runners/prominent racers to set things up for her – Kingston Sunflower, Belle le Grand and current 5-4 favourite Walkadina, who has won just a maiden hurdle from eight starts and has finished weakly the last twice (albeit over a too-far trip of 2m5f at Cheltenham last time).

Kempton Racing Tips (Wednesday 3 December 2025)

Another bumper nine-race card comes from Kempton Park on Wednesday evening, with the action going right through until 8.10pm.

7.40 Kempton – Fifty Nifty (1pt e/w – 11/2 Unibet, 5/1 Sky Bet, both paying four places)

Fifty Nifty won a small-field 1m Yarmouth maiden on fast ground when with Tom Clover but didn’t seem to stay that trip when 11th of 17 on his debut for Mick Appleby at York in October. Cut back to 7f at Newcastle next time, the four-year-old showed plenty more when a three and a half-length sixth to Midnight Lion, again looking as though a further reduction in trip would help. That race was run in a fast time and the two beaten horses to have run since have both boosted the form – runner-up Unassuming was beaten by a nose when returned to Newcastle nine days later while Maxi Boy, who finished last of 11, was beaten by just half a length when a 28-1 second over the same course and distance yesterday. Fifty Nifty has yet to race over a sprint trip or on Polytrack, but the son of Ten Sovereigns will have no issue with the track on breeding. The obvious danger is front-runner Carbine Harvester, who has form figures in Class 4 or lower all-weather handicaps of 1111 (4-4). He’s worth a saver.
