Lingfield Racing Tips (Wednesday 31 December 2025)
A whopping eight races take place at Lingfield between 12.00pm and 3.30pm and there’s Listed action coming on the card at 2.00pm. Here are Andrew’s best bets of the day.
1.30 Lingfield – Clearpoint (1pt win – 13/8 bet365)
Clearpoint landed 5f Class 4 handicaps at Lingfield in September/October and completed an all-weather hat-trick with victory in a 0-95 Class 3 handicap at Wolverhampton last month. Simon Hodgson’s five-year-old had no difficulty in leading up from his wide draw and never saw a rival. Just one from ten on turf, that latest win took his record on synthetics to 118133830111 (6-12) for a huge profit of £61.57 to a £1 level stake at SP. In handicaps on turning tracks his all-weather record stands at 18133111 (5-8). He should be able to dominate in this small field and can defy a career-high handicap mark.
3.00 Lingfield – Kindest Nation (2pt win – 7/1 bet365)
Early pace dominated in the 8.6f Wolverhampton handicap won by Advancing on December 27th and I’m happy to forgive the performance of Kindest Nation, who trailed home ten lengths behind the winner in a 22-1 ninth of 12, never getting involved after a slow start. Hugo Palmer’s filly had caught the eye when a best-of the-closers fourth in a 7f Chelmsford handicap on her penultimate start, only losing out to three geldings. The four-year-old’s three handicap wins have come in 7f fillies-only company, and she returns to that grade today with Oisin Murphy booked. Her full record in fillies’ handicap reads 511071 (3-6), with the ‘duck egg’ when outclassed in the Kensington Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot. The seventh place can be excused as she was drawn in stall 11 of 11 at Wolverhampton while the fifth came from a poor stall 1 draw on soft ground at Catterick where the action developed stands’ side, favouring those berthed high.
3.30 Lingfield – Twilight Madness (1pt win – 11/4 bet365)
Twilight Madness tends to do his winning in clusters, completing a hat-trick in 2021, and doing so again in November/December 2022. He broke a two-year-losing streak when heavily punted over today’s course and distance on December 3rd, scoring by over two lengths from the front and following up at Wolverhampton five day later. He was due to run at Wolverhampton on Saturday (December 27th) where he was withdrawn with a vet’s certificate (though his stall 11 draw probably had more to do with it). Simon Hodgson’s seven-year-old should get the run of the race out in front and could prove hard to pass.
