17:15 – Free Tips Daily On attheraces.com Apprentice Handicap

Race Details: 1m 7f | Class 5 | Going: Standard (Polytrack) | | flat

This looks a small-field race with a pretty obvious starting point, because Arc Zoosve arrives chasing a four-timer and has the profile of a stayer still on the up. Neil King’s 5yo is now up to a mark of 83, but his recent form says he may not be done yet. The chief threat could come from An Bradan Feasa, who signed off last season with a win and has enough ability to make this interesting if fit after the break. Mio Amico is less exposed than most and could have a say if seeing out this longer trip strongly. The others all need a fair bit more, with Polling Day and Bulldog Spirit looking vulnerable on recent evidence. Not a deep Class 5 by any means, but it does revolve around one solid favourite.

Top Selections

1. Arc Zoosve – 4/5 with Betfair

Jockey: Jack Callan | Trainer: Neil King | Form: 125111 | Rating: 83 | Topspeed: 64

Arc Zoosve is hard to oppose. The form figures tell their own story, and winning his last three suggests he has really found his groove now stepped up in distance. A mark of 83 is workable judged on the way he has been finishing off his races, and his Topspeed figure of 64 is right up there in this line-up. In a race lacking much depth, he brings the strongest recent credentials and looks the one most likely to get a straightforward trip and grind this out. At 4/5 he is no giveaway, but he still makes plenty of appeal as the percentage call in a race where his main rivals have questions to answer. Bet type tag: WIN

Bet: WIN

2. An Bradan Feasa – 5/2 with Bet365

Jockey: Alice Bond | Trainer: Jack Jones | Form: 24441- | Rating: 80 | Topspeed: 65

An Bradan Feasa looks the sensible each-way alternative, especially with only a handful of rivals to beat for a place. He ended last season with a deserved win after knocking on the door, and the rating of 80 does not look beyond him if Jack Jones has him ready to roll after the layoff. His Topspeed of 65 is actually the best in the field, which gives him a definite chance of serving it up to the favourite if returning in the same nick. The slight concern is the absence, but at 5/2 he is still the one I’d want on side against the market leader for an each-way punt. Bet type tag: EACH-WAY

Bet: EACH-WAY

Betting Strategy

Keep it simple here. Arc Zoosve is the win bet because he brings the strongest recent form and sets the standard in a modest little Class 5. An Bradan Feasa is the each-way option as the most credible alternative, especially if returning sharp enough after the break. Mio Amico is the danger if this turns tactical and stamina comes into play late on.

17:50 – Sky Sports Racing Virgin 512 Novice Stakes (GBB Race)

Race Details: 1m | Class 4 | Going: Standard (Polytrack) | | flat

This looks a fairly interesting novice rather than a deep one, with the market understandably centred on a handful of yards who know how to place this type. Always Happy brings the standout piece of form after making a winning start and, on ratings, sets the standard off 87. York Tower is the obvious danger on what he showed in two runner-up efforts last season, while Molo Del Palazzo and Turret are the sort to take a step forward now tackling this trip in stronger hands. Savvy Disko has enough experience to be competitive too, but the bigger prices look up against it on what they’ve shown so far. In truth, this feels like a race where class and professionalism should tell, and the favourite is hard to crab.

Top Selections

1. Always Happy – 4/6 with Bet365

Jockey: Ryan Moore | Trainer: Roger Varian | Form: 1 | Rating: 87 | Topspeed: 31

It is not hard to see why Always Happy heads the market. A debut winner for Roger Varian, he already has the best official rating in the field and that first outing suggested there should be more to come over a mile. Ryan Moore taking over only strengthens the case, because this is exactly the sort of novice where experience and a touch of class can settle things quickly. At 4/6 he is no giveaway, but he does look the most likely winner and the one with the fewest questions to answer. If he breaks on terms and handles the switch to Lingfield, he should take plenty of beating. Bet: WIN

Bet: WIN

2. Molo Del Palazzo – 13/2 with Bet365

Jockey: Oisin Murphy | Trainer: Ralph Beckett | Form: 5- | Rating: 67 | Topspeed: 37

Molo Del Palazzo makes more each-way appeal than most of these because there is at least a hint of untapped ability in the profile. He was only fifth on debut, but that was his first day at school and Ralph Beckett’s three-year-olds often improve a good deal from run one to run two. The booking of Oisin Murphy catches the eye, and the 1m trip on Polytrack could easily suit better than what he faced first time out. At 13/2 with Bet365, he looks a much more interesting each-way punt than some of the exposed or unfancied rivals, especially if the principals turn this into a proper test from some way out. Bet: EACH-WAY

Bet: EACH-WAY

Betting Strategy

Always Happy is the win play and the one to keep simple; he has the best form in the book and looks the class angle. For those wanting something at a bigger price, Molo Del Palazzo is the each-way option in a 12-runner field with three places on offer. York Tower is the obvious danger, while Turret is respected on debut for a yard that places them well.

18:20 – Download The At The Races App Fillies’ Novice Stakes (GBB Race)

Race Details: 7f | Class 4 | Going: Standard (Polytrack) | | flat

This looks a fairly useful fillies’ novice for the grade rather than a weak one padded out by numbers. Bright Summer sets the standard on bare figures after a promising debut fourth and it is no surprise to see her dominating the market for Andrew Balding and Oisin Murphy. Still, she is not facing a field of no-hopers. Hatour shaped nicely when fourth on her only start and has the profile of a Gosden filly ready to step forward, while Thursday Girl and Music Academy both improved from first to second outing and bring solid recent form into the race. Eskimo Pie has the strongest rating in the field and more experience than most, though she is beginning to look a touch exposed. Tricky enough, but the principals do stand out.

Top Selections

1. Bright Summer – 13/8 with Bet365

Jockey: Oisin Murphy | Trainer: Andrew Balding | Form: 4 | Rating: 86 | Topspeed:

Bright Summer makes plenty of appeal on the back of that debut fourth, a run that already reads like the best piece of untapped form in this line-up. Balding’s fillies often come on a good deal for their first outing and the fact she was immediately competitive suggests there is more to come over this 7f. Drawn in stall 2, with Oisin Murphy taking over, she should get a smooth trip around Lingfield and this looks the ideal novice to lose the maiden tag. At 13/8 she is hardly flying under the radar, but she still holds the strongest win claims in a race where several rivals need another step forward. Bet: WIN

Bet: WIN

2. Hatour – 7/2 with Bet365

Jockey: Robert Havlin | Trainer: John & Thady Gosden | Form: 4- | Rating: 74 | Topspeed:

Hatour is the each-way angle because she has the look of a filly who could improve sharply from two to three. Her sole run, a fourth, was perfectly respectable for an inexperienced type, and the Gosdens are masters at bringing this sort along with patience. Stall 1 is a plus at this track if Havlin can hold a handy position, and in a nine-runner novice that tactical edge can matter. She does have to bridge the gap on official ratings with Bright Summer and Eskimo Pie, but 7/2 is fair enough for a filly with clear upside and a smart yard behind her. She looks the solid each-way punt against the favourite.

Bet: EACH-WAY

Betting Strategy

Bright Summer is the straight win play and makes the most sense if you want the most likely winner. For an each-way option, Hatour appeals as the unexposed one who could easily take a good step forward second time up. Thursday Girl and Eskimo Pie are the obvious dangers, with the latter bringing the strongest established figures but perhaps less room for improvement than the two against her.

18:50 – Sky Sports Racing Sky 415 Handicap

Race Details: 7f | Class 6 | Going: Standard (Polytrack) | | flat

This looks a fairly ordinary 3yo handicap rather than a deep one, and the market has understandably latched on to Slack Bob, who arrives on the back of a couple of solid efforts and has the look of one ready to get his head in front. Thestral has the highest mark in the field and is dangerous if bouncing back from two disappointing runs, while Grey Force and Roccobear have bits of form that give them a squeak in a race lacking much depth. Lovethiswayagain has been knocking on the door without quite finishing the job, which is both a positive and a slight warning. In truth, this is the sort of race where tactical position and who handles the seven furlongs best will matter plenty.

Top Selections

1. Slack Bob – 2/1 with Bet365

Jockey: Robert Havlin | Trainer: Ed Dunlop | Form: 954-32 | Rating: 73 | Topspeed: 56

He is the percentage call. Slack Bob has moved forward with racing this year, following a promising third with a second, and those efforts suggest this opening mark is workable rather than harsh. Ed Dunlop’s colt has enough tactical pace for this sort of contest and, in a weak Class 6, he does not need to improve dramatically to win. The draw in 7 is not ideal round here, but Robert Havlin is experienced enough to get him into a sensible rhythm. At 2/1 he is hardly a hidden gem, but he does look the most likely winner and is hard to oppose if repeating his latest run.

Bet: WIN

2. Grey Force – 11/2 with Betfair

Jockey: Jack Callan | Trainer: Charlie Johnston | Form: 4-744 | Rating: 69 | Topspeed: 60

Grey Force makes more appeal than a few of the shorter-priced alternatives because there is a sense he is edging towards a winning opportunity. He has not been beaten miles in his last three starts, his mark has become manageable, and that Topspeed figure of 60 stands up perfectly well in this company. Charlie Johnston’s runners often do well when they can get on with things, and stall 3 gives Jack Callan options. He does not arrive with the sexy profile of an unexposed improver, but in a race where several have questions to answer, 11/2 looks fair for a colt who should be competitive from the outset and can easily hit the frame.

Bet: EACH-WAY

Betting Strategy

Keep it simple: Slack Bob is the win play and sets the standard on recent form. For an each-way angle in an eight-runner race, Grey Force looks the sensible alternative at the prices. Thestral is the obvious danger on raw ability if Oisin Murphy can revive him, while Roccobear is not completely dismissed in a race that would not take much winning.

19:20 – Follow @attheraces On X Handicap

Race Details: 1m | Class 4 | Going: Standard (Polytrack) | | flat

This is a pretty useful Class 4 mile for Lingfield standards, with a mix of solid exposed all-weather handicappers and one obvious lurking improver in Zatsgood. He’s understandably short after only three career starts, but this is not a penalty kick in a race featuring dependable yardsticks like Metallo, in-form Studious and the well-treated Signcastle City. Buy The Dip arrives on the back of a win and still looks feasibly weighted, while Frostmagic has the inside draw and enough recent form to make his presence felt. The shape of the race should suit something ridden with a bit of patience rather than a tearaway, and in truth this looks more of a betting heat than a straightforward favourite-backers’ race.

Top Selections

1. Metallo – 11/2 with Bet365

Jockey: Luke Morris | Trainer: John Butler | Form: -20464 | Rating: 93 | Topspeed: 75

Metallo has become the sort who keeps threatening without quite getting his head in front, but this looks a very workable opening and the return to Lingfield catches the eye. He’s been holding his form well enough in stronger races than this, and a mark of 93 does not look beyond him if things drop right from stall 2. Luke Morris around here is never a negative when the fractions matter, and this horse has the tactical pace to hold a good position before trying to grind it out late. At 11/2, he makes more appeal than the skinny favourite in what is a proper handicap. Bet: WIN

Bet: WIN

2. Buy The Dip – 15/2 with Bet365

Jockey: Pat Cosgrave | Trainer: Jim Boyle | Form: 7904-1 | Rating: 91 | Topspeed: 78

Buy The Dip is the each-way angle. He got back on track with a win last time and, crucially, still carries just 122, which makes him very interesting in a race where several of the principals are more tightly compressed near the top of the weights. His profile is a little patchy, but that latest success suggested he still retains plenty of enthusiasm, and a mile on Polytrack is clearly no issue. Pat Cosgrave is a solid booking for a horse who may need delivering at the right time, and this mark still gives him room to be competitive. Around 15/2 is fair for a horse with genuine place and win possibilities. Bet: EACH-WAY

Bet: EACH-WAY

Betting Strategy

Metallo is the win play at a backable price in a race where the favourite looks talented but hardly bombproof. Buy The Dip is the each-way alternative, especially with his low weight and recent winning form. The obvious danger is Zatsgood, who could simply be better than this mark if progressing as expected, while Signcastle City also has claims if overcoming the widest draw.

19:50 – Free Bets On attheraces.com Fillies’ Handicap

Race Details: 7f | Class 4 | Going: Standard (Polytrack) | | flat

This is a proper fillies’ handicap rather than a giveaway, with a mix of unexposed 3yos taking on some battle-hardened older mares. The market has understandably centred on progressive types such as Handle With Care, Brisk Symphony and Barefoot Beach, while Marlborough’s nap The Third Star adds another layer to a race that doesn’t lack for angles. Draw and track position could matter around Lingfield over 7f, and a few of these arrive with questions after breaks or below-par latest runs. The younger fillies get plenty of weight and that may prove decisive, especially if one of them improves again, but there are solid handicap markers among the older brigade. Tricky enough, but not impossible.

Top Selections

1. Handle With Care – 9/2 with Bet365

Jockey: Marco Ghiani | Trainer: Marco Botti | Form: 61-347 | Rating: 89 | Topspeed: 74

She makes plenty of appeal from stall 2 in a race where tactical speed and a handy trip should count for plenty. Handle With Care hasn’t quite put it all together in three runs since winning last year, but those efforts have come in decent company and this mark of 89 still looks workable if Botti can get her back to her best level. The latest seventh isn’t pretty on paper, though I wouldn’t be writing her off on that alone, and Marco Ghiani is the right man to deliver a measured ride from a good draw. At 9/2, she looks the one with the fewest holes. Bet: WIN

Bet: WIN

2. Barefoot Beach – 7/1 with Betfair

Jockey: Sean Levey | Trainer: Richard Hannon | Form: 1-22 | Rating: 85 | Topspeed: 66

Barefoot Beach is the each-way angle in a race where the 3yos could easily dominate, and she has already shown a pleasing level of consistency. After winning on debut she has twice finished runner-up, shaping like a filly who is still learning and may not have reached her ceiling just yet. A mark of 85 doesn’t look harsh, especially with the age allowance keeping her weight down to 9st1lb, and stall 3 is another obvious plus around here. Sean Levey aboard for Hannon catches the eye too. She doesn’t need to find masses to go close, and 7/1 makes her a very fair each-way punt. Bet: EACH-WAY

Bet: EACH-WAY

Betting Strategy

Handle With Care is the win play, mainly because her draw, rating and overall profile make her easier to trust than most in here. Barefoot Beach is the each-way option with four places on offer, as she looks progressive and well treated against older fillies. The obvious dangers are Brisk Symphony, who should come on for her return, and The Third Star if the Burrows filly returns in the right mood.

20:20 – Follow @attheraces On Instagram Handicap (GBBPlus Race)

Race Details: 1m 4f | Class 4 | Going: Standard (Polytrack) | | flat

This looks a tidy little staying handicap rather than a deep one, and the market has understandably latched on to the progressive 4yos. Twilight Moon arrives on the back of back-to-back wins and is clearly going the right way, while Lightning Tiger still looks capable of better after a fair reappearance. Epictetus is knocking on the door without quite getting his head in front, and Victors Spirit also comes here in good order after a win and a second. At the other end, Penzance and Rogue Impact need a revival. With only eight runners, track position and the pace angle could matter around Lingfield, but this feels more about which of the younger stayers still has improvement left in the locker. It is competitive enough, though not an impossible puzzle.

Top Selections

1. Twilight Moon – 11/4 with Bet365

Jockey: Rob Hornby | Trainer: Marcus Tregoning | Form: 4241-1 | Rating: 93 | Topspeed: 74

Twilight Moon is the one I want to be with. He ended last season by getting off the mark and returned with another win, so the profile is that of a 4yo who is still progressing rather than one who has already shown his hand. An opening mark of 93 looks workable judged on that upward curve, and Tregoning’s runner has the right blend of stamina and momentum for a race like this. The wide draw in 8 is not ideal at Lingfield, but in a small field Rob Hornby should be able to slot in. At 11/4 with Bet365, he is not wildly overpriced, but he still makes solid win-bet appeal against rivals who have had more chances. End with the right one here.

Bet: WIN

2. Epictetus – 13/2 with Bet365

Jockey: Saffie Osborne | Trainer: Jamie Osborne | Form: 032422 | Rating: 91 | Topspeed: 71

Epictetus has become a little expensive to follow, but there is no knocking the consistency of his recent efforts. His last four runs have yielded three seconds and a fourth, and he keeps shaping as though this sort of 1m4f handicap is within range from a mark of 91. Jamie Osborne’s 6yo does not arrive with the same upside as the selection, but he does bring reliable recent form and a decent draw in 5 to work from. Saffie Osborne knows him well enough, and in a race where a couple have questions to answer, that counts. Available at 13/2 with Bet365, he looks the sensible each-way punt if reproducing his usual level.

Bet: EACH-WAY

Betting Strategy

Twilight Moon is the win play on the basis that he is still improving and may not have reached his ceiling yet. Epictetus is the each-way alternative in an eight-runner field because he brings the most dependable recent form at a fair enough price. The obvious dangers are Lightning Tiger, who could step forward from his return, and Victors Spirit, who is in good nick and not dismissed lightly.
