The Rod Millman-trained Ajrad is another veteran who tends to perform best at this time of year, especially when the mud is flying. The eight-year-old caught the eye when fourth over the 7f trip on good to soft ground at Chepstow last time, doing best of the closers and second best of those to race centre to far side. He’s won on heavy ground before, will appreciate the step back up to 1m and is 9lb below his last winning mark.
