Ludlow & Kempton Racing Tips - Andrew Mount's Best Bets for Wednesday 17 December

Ludlow & Kempton Racing Tips - Andrew Mount's Best Bets for Wednesday 17 December

Andrew Mount looks to the meetings at Ludlow and Kempton for his best two bets on Wednesday 17 December.

Five meetings take place across Great Britain and Ireland on Wednesday, with the jumps meeting at Ludlow in the afternoon, and Kempton’s evening card on the all-weather, being the focus of Andrew’s top tips.

Andrew enjoyed a winner with his Tuesday column, as Weddell Sea won for him at 7/1 at Newcastle.

Ludlow Racing Tips (Wednesday 17 December 2025)

Ludlow’s competitive seven-race card on Wednesday looks a treat for punters, with four double-figure field sizes. Andrew’s top tip comes form the mares’ novices’ hurdle at 1.13.

1.13 Ludlow – Crystal Spring (1.5pt e/w – 7/1 bet365, 13/2 generally)

The 2m2.5f mares’ handicap hurdle won in a fast time by Apples Moon on November 7th is working out strongly, with the runners recording next time out form figures of 2543231121 (3-10). The second-place finishes came at odds of 40-1, 33-1 and 5-2 and the pair of third places at 18-1 and 17-2. The winner followed up at Wincanton yesterday (Tuesday), the third, Sunset Marquesa, scored at Sandown on December 6th and today it is the turn of runner-up Crystal Spring. Stuart Edmunds four-year-old only went down by a length and towers over today’s rivals when judged on Proform’s last time out speed figures. Despite that, she’s an each-way price and looks a great value bet against short-priced favourite Pottersville.

Kempton Racing Tips (Wednesday 17 December 2025)

Kempton hosts a bountiful nine-race card on Wednesday evening which features the Listed Wild Flower Stakes. Andrew’s best bet comes in the concluding handicap.

8.10 Kempton – Magna (0.5pt e/w – 14/1 bet365)

Tony Carroll has his string in fine form and Magna is worth a punt to break her 14-race maiden status. The three-year-old was only fifth at Southwell last time out but did well to finish just three and a half lengths back as she was drawn in stall 1 and raced towards the inside when it paid to challenge wide, favouring those drawn high (first two home drawn 7 and 9 of 9). Three of her four best RPRs (Racing Post Ratings) have come at tonight’s venue, and her full record here reads 2252 (0-4). All those runs took place over 7f-1m but she’s too big a price to ignore in this 6f handicap.
