A flurry of quality National Hunt races take place in front of the ITV Racing cameras at Market Rasen & Windsor on Friday 16 January, and we focus our Lucky 15 tips for the day on the live terrestrial action.
Some competitive racing takes place at both fixtures, with the Winter Million Festival at Windsor certainly throwing up some classy contest. Check out four best bets of the day below…
Market Rasen Racing Tips (Friday 16 January 2026)
Seven races light up Market Rasen’s afternoon Jumps card, with the action kicking off at 12.18pm. Two of our Lucky 15 tips run at the Lincolnshire venue.
2.05 Market Rasen – Bill Baxter (1pt win – 7/2)
Warren Greatrex’s Bill Baxter stormed to victory at the Punchestown Festival at the end of last season, but can replicate that success in an intriguing veterans event at 2.05pm. He’s significantly higher in the handicap than that Punchestown win, but he showed when sixth in the Becher Chase at Aintree that he’s still in decent form. Dropping back to 2m 5f for Friday’s contest, the galloping grey could well be more than capable of downing last year’s winner The Flier Begley, and Bill Baxter is the selection in a hot renewal.
2.40 Market Rasen – The Flaggy Shore (1pt win – 100/30)
Ben Clarke’s The Flaggy Shore defeated Jollie Dame in emphatic style at Warwick last time out, and the exciting bumper performer will step up into Listed company on Friday in the 2.40pm at Market Rasen. Installed as a 40/1 shot for the Champion Bumper at the Cheltenham Festival in the aftermath, the Hillstar mare will need to improve immeasurably to reach those dizzy heights, but Friday’s contest is well within her capabilities. She quickened very impressively that day at Warwick, and whilst conditions may prove a little more testing here, and she faces a stronger field of rivals, she looks more than capable of continuing on a rapid upward curve.
Windsor Racing Tips (Friday 16 January 2026)
Windsor will host day one of the Berkshire Winter Million Festival and they have some superb races taking place throughout the afternoon. See our best two bets on the card here.
1.50 Windsor – Be Aware (1pt win – 11/8)
A very smart handicap hurdler, Be Aware could well turn into an even better chaser and he should be able to outclass his rivals in the Grade 2 Lightning Novices’ Chase at 1.50pm. Following a taking chasing debut win, he’s face some strong opposition, as he was no match for July Flower in the Arkle Trial at Cheltenham, whilst Arkle favourite Lulamba put him in his place in the Henry VIII Novices’ Chase at Sandown last month. This is a whole lot easier, and whilst he’s been unable to dominate against those two proven Graded performers recently, he doesn’t meet anything at the same level here, and he can pull clear of the likes of Hansard and No Questions Asked in the closing stages.
3.35 Windsor – Hot Fuss (1pt win – 9/1)
Windsor’s penultimate race is a hugely competitive 2m handicap hurdle and there will be potentially some horses lining up here with the County Hurdle on their minds for Cheltenham in March. Dual Imperial Cup winner Go Dante, Dan Skelton’s pairing of Live Conti and Great Fleet are all worthy of a mention, but Tom Dascombe’s Hot Fuss can land the money. He was beaten at Sandown last time out, but prior to that chased home Wilful at Ascot. That pair clash again on Friday and Hot Fuss is better off at the weights this time around and can duly turn the form around and land this event.
