Tuesday’s racing sees four meetings take place across Britain and Ireland, with flat action at three tracks and a sole jumping fixture at Stratford.
GG tipster, and recent Weekend Watch guest, Joe Napier has our lucky 15 tips for Tuesday. He sticks to the flat with his selections from Musselburgh and Lingfield.
Musselburgh Racing Tips (Tuesday 25 August)
Musselburgh’s Tuesday feature is the 2m2f Portobello Handicap, giving flat fans a marathon to enjoy during the afternoon. One of our tips at the Scottish track runs in that race, with one other earlier on the card.
2.45 Musselburgh – Lauralynn (1pt win – 2/1)
Relatively consistent across five races so far, Lauralynn has a good opportunity here for a second win. Declan Carroll’s filly has finished in the first three in four of her five starts. That included behind decent rivals on her first two starts at Beverley. She then won at Southwell, before an ambitious 80/1 tilt at LIsted honours at York. She fell short that day in seventh of ten, but was not disgraced. After 88 days off, a third of seven on nursery debut was adequate at Carlisle. Turned out again just two weeks later, and off 2lb lower, this looks a weaker race than last time. The bottom threee in the handicap should prove little threat, while the selection also has form with soft in the going description. That could become crucial if the forecast rain falls.
3.45 Musselburgh – Florida Dreams (1pt win – 10/1)
Another for whom soft ground would help is Florida Dreams. The useful hurdler joined Sandy Thomson from Nicky Richards in May. A below par hurdling bow was rectified by some promise in two flat runs a few months ago. They were his first career starts on the level, and involved him running on competitively over 1m3f. The eight-year-old did not run as well over 1m1f at Hamilton at the end of June. However, that trip is definitely too short for hm and was also on good-to-firm ground. This will be much more suitable as he goes right up in trip to 2m2f. An opening mark of 70 is generous enough and he should be dangerous on his peak hurdles efforts too.
Lingfield Racing Tips (Tuesday 25 August)
Lingfield host six races during Tuesday afternoon, and Joe has two tips at the Surrey track, including one in the finale.
3.30 Lingfield – Jungle Dance (1pt win – 7/2)
This Classified Stakes has two principals in Wolverhampton one-two Let’s Go Hugo and Jungle Dance. The former overcame the latter with a strong late surge last week. However, there is a 5lb swing in favour of the selection which may make a difference here. Clifford Lee sent Jungle Dance for home early, only to be worn down in the final furlong by the winner. The swing at the weights will surely close the gap, while the Bungle Inthejungle gelding also has course and distance winning form, while Let’s Go Hugo only does so on Tapeta surfaces.
5.02 Lingfield – Thunder Goddess (1pt win – 7/2)
After a sensational week at York, Andrew Balding’s form can roll onto Tuesday with Thunder Goddess. The daughter of Lightning Spear showed little on the all-weather back in the spring. After a 140-day break though, there was promise in her fifth at Windsor earlier this month. She saw out 1m well and should improve for the step up to 1m2f here. She finished ahead of a horse rated 63 last time, but makes her handicap bow here off just 59. That should prove generous and Balding knows the family well. He has trained all four half-siblings of Thunder Goddess, all of whom reached a rating of at least 74.
