14:15 – Future Ticketing Handicap
Race Details: 1m | Class 6 | Going: 8.0) (rail movements (Good (goingstick) | | flat
This looks a fairly ordinary little 3yo handicap rather than a deep contest, and the market has understandably latched on to the two with the most persuasive recent pieces of form. Only Dream Big arrives off a win and has the highest official mark in the field, while Inferno shaped well in second last time and looks the obvious danger. Mereside Princess is the progressive one, though, having pieced it together with back-to-back wins and still not looking exposed at this level. In a seven-runner race around Musselburgh’s turning mile, the draw and tactical sharpness will matter plenty, and those berthed low look best placed. It is not a race overflowing with depth, but there is enough unexposed form to make it mildly tricky.
Top Selections
1. Mereside Princess – 4/1 with William Hill
Jockey: Oliver Stammers | Trainer: David & Nicola Barron | Form: 664311 | Rating: 71 | Topspeed: 62
She is the one I want to be with. Those last two wins suggest she has finally got the hang of things, and there is a fair chance the assessor still hasn’t fully caught her despite this higher mark. Drawn in stall 2, she should get a handy trip in a race where track position could be decisive, and this is not such a strong Class 6 that a hat-trick bid looks fanciful. The Barron yard knows how to place one around here, and at 4/1 she makes more appeal than the short-priced favourite because there may still be a bit more to come. Bet: WIN
2. Inferno – 5/2 with Bet365
Jockey: Connor Beasley | Trainer: Edward Bethell | Form: 3-3502 | Rating: 74 | Topspeed: 72
Inferno is solid rather than spectacular, but that latest second reads well enough in the context of this race and his figures give him very obvious claims. A Topspeed of 72 is one of the better numbers on offer here, and he has the sort of consistent profile that should see him involved again from stall 3. Connor Beasley is a positive booking on this track, and if the race turns into a straightforward tactical affair, Inferno should travel strongly and be in the right place. At 5/2 he is no giveaway, but in a seven-runner field he looks the safest each-way play if you want cover against another near miss. Bet: EACH-WAY
Betting Strategy
Mereside Princess is the win play at the prices, with her upward curve making her the most interesting runner in the line-up. Inferno is the percentage each-way option in a race lacking depth, as he brings reliable form and a strong enough speed figure. Only Dream Big is the obvious danger after winning last time, but at cramped odds he looks worth taking on.

14:45 – 100% Racing TV Profits Back To Racing Selling Stakes
Race Details: 7f | Class 3 | Going: 8.0) (rail movements (Good (goingstick) | | flat
This doesn’t look a deep seller on paper and, for all there are a few with bits of promise, the race revolves around whether Lady Dublin can finally convert fair novice form into a win in much calmer company. She brings the standout rating and comfortably the best Topspeed figure, which makes her the one they all have to beat. Liveadream is the obvious threat after taking a step forward on his second run, while stablemate Bluestone Lady has been busy and sets a fair standard for the level. Northern Viola could improve from debut for a shrewd yard, but the others need to find plenty. In truth, it’s not the strongest puzzle of the day and the market leaders look there for a reason.
Top Selections
1. Lady Dublin – 6/4 with Bet365
Jockey: Harry Russell | Trainer: Ollie Pears | Form: 446 | Rating: 86 | Topspeed: 82
Lady Dublin is hard to oppose dropping into this grade. Her three runs in novice company have all come in races that look stronger than this, and while she hasn’t managed to get her head in front yet, a mark of 86 and Topspeed of 82 tower over this field. The bare form figures of 446 don’t scream certainty, but they do suggest she has been holding her own in better company than a seller. Harry Russell takes over for Ollie Pears and, if she handles this 7f around Musselburgh as expected, she ought to have too much class. At 6/4 she’s no giveaway, but she still looks the most likely winner.
Bet: WIN
2. Northern Viola – 13/2 with William Hill
Jockey: Jason Hart | Trainer: John & Sean Quinn | Form: 5 | Rating: 69 | Topspeed: 50
Northern Viola makes more each-way appeal than some of the more exposed types. She shaped with a bit of promise when fifth on debut, and it would be no surprise at all if the John & Sean Quinn team found the expected improvement second time up. Jason Hart is a positive booking and stall 1 could be no bad place to be around here if she breaks alertly. She doesn’t have Lady Dublin’s established level of form, but that’s reflected in the price, and 13/2 is fair enough in a race where a few of these have already shown their limitations. For an each-way punt in a six-runner seller, she looks the value alternative.
Bet: EACH-WAY
Betting Strategy
Keep it straightforward: Lady Dublin is the win play because her figures are comfortably the strongest in the field and this is a marked ease in grade. Northern Viola is the each-way option at a bigger price, mainly on the promise of improvement from debut. Liveadream is the obvious danger if stepping forward again, while Bluestone Lady is respected but may just be vulnerable to one with a bit more upside.

15:15 – Tamper-Proof Handicap
Race Details: 7f | Class 6 | Going: 8.0) (rail movements (Good (goingstick) | | flat
This is the sort of low-grade 7f handicap where the market may not tell the full story. Qazaq has the plum draw in stall 1 and arrives with solid enough recent figures for this level, while Yaaser is sure to be popular despite not looking bombproof on what he has shown this term. Carolus Magnus has bits of form that make him dangerous if bouncing back, and the 3yo pair Viviana and Supreme Clarets add a bit of interest with less exposed profiles than most of these older handicappers. Finn Ironside has the best Topspeed figure in the field and that catches the eye in a race lacking much conviction. It is not a strong contest, but it is a tricky little puzzle where handicapping position and track position could be decisive.
Top Selections
1. Qazaq – 7/2 with William Hill
Jockey: Mark Winn | Trainer: Iain Jardine | Form: 872645 | Rating: 73 | Topspeed: 43
Qazaq looks the percentage call. He has been holding his form in better shape than plenty of these and, in a race full of regressive or unreliable types, that counts for plenty. The inside draw is a clear plus around Musselburgh over 7f, and he is only 2lb lower than the top-rated Yaaser while coming here with a more convincing recent run profile. He has not been hiding from the assessor, but this is a weak Class 6 and he should get every chance if breaking well from stall 1. Available at 7/2, he is not exactly a giveaway, but he still makes the most sense as the likeliest winner.
Bet: WIN
2. Viviana – 13/2 with William Hill
Jockey: Jason Hart | Trainer: Charlie Johnston | Form: 336 | Rating: 67 | Topspeed: 44
Viviana is the one at a price who could easily do better now switched into handicap company against older, thoroughly exposed rivals. Her three runs to date have been respectable enough without setting the world alight, but there is a fair chance a mark of 67 underestimates her, especially with the Charlie Johnston yard placing plenty of these types aggressively. She gets in here with just 134 and has a nice middle draw to work from, while Jason Hart is a positive booking in a race where tactical sharpness matters. At 13/2 she appeals as the each-way play, particularly given how little upside there is with many of her elders.
Bet: EACH-WAY
Betting Strategy
Qazaq is the straightforward win bet because the draw, consistency and race conditions all line up better for him than for most. Viviana is the each-way punt, with the potential to improve past exposed older horses off 67. The obvious dangers are Yaaser if the market confidence is justified, and Finn Ironside, whose Topspeed figure gives him a squeak if putting it all together.

15:45 – Haysmith By A Nose 60th Birthday Handicap
Race Details: 1m 4f | Class 6 | Going: 8.0) (rail movements (Good (goingstick) | | flat
This is a modest little seven-runner handicap but not an easy one to call with several arriving in decent nick. Naturalia sets the standard on recent placed efforts and looks sure to be popular again, while Time Turner has already shown he can win off this sort of mark and is worth forgiving one poor run. Gemini Man is the in-form veteran after another win last time and clearly won’t mind a scrap, whereas Rosemary May shaped well enough in third recently to suggest she’s still competitively treated. It doesn’t look a deep race for the grade, but it is the sort where tactical positioning and who sees out the 1m4f best could prove decisive. I’d rather side with reliability than chase something speculative.
Top Selections
1. Naturalia – 11/4 with Bet365
Jockey: Shay Farmer | Trainer: Donald Whillans | Form: -29622 | Rating: 79 | Topspeed: 60
Naturalia has been knocking loudly on the door and this looks a very fair opportunity to cash in. Those last two runner-up efforts give her the most solid recent profile in the field, and she’s been holding her form well without looking awkward or ungenuine. An official mark of 79 asks a question in this grade, but she’s effectively getting in light enough and doesn’t need to improve much to take this. Shay Farmer knows her now and, in a race lacking standout strength, the mare’s consistency is a major asset. At 11/4, she isn’t exactly missed in the market, but she still makes plenty of appeal as the percentage call. End with the obvious view: she’s the one to beat.
Bet: WIN
2. Gemini Man – 6/1 with Paddy Power
Jockey: Andrew Mullen | Trainer: Iain Jardine | Form: 25-121 | Rating: 74 | Topspeed: 70
Gemini Man is hardly a secret at this stage of his career, but the old boy is thriving and his recent form gives him a definite each-way chance. That latest win showed he retains plenty of enthusiasm, and his Topspeed figure of 70 is the best on offer here, which matters in a race where the bare form is tightly packed. He’s up against younger legs, but he’s running well enough to cope and the 6/1 on offer makes him more interesting than some of the shorter ones. Andrew Mullen should be able to keep him handy from stall 5, and if this turns into a proper test of resolution, Gemini Man can easily hit the frame again.
Bet: EACH-WAY
Betting Strategy
Naturalia is the win play because she brings the strongest recent consistency and looks set for another big run in a weakish Class 6. For an each-way punt, Gemini Man makes more appeal than the obvious alternatives at the prices given his current form and strong Topspeed figure. Time Turner is the danger if bouncing back from his latest disappointment, while Rosemary May isn’t dismissed either.

16:15 – Racing TV Profits Returned To Racing Handicap
Race Details: 5f | Class 6 | Going: 8.0) (rail movements (Good (goingstick) | | flat
This is a proper low-grade Musselburgh sprint where track position, early pace and a bit of streetcraft will matter plenty. Wee Mary brings the most solid recent profile after a win and a good run in defeat next time, so it is no surprise she heads the market, but she is drawn wide in 10 and that does ask a question in a sharp 5f here. Zuffolo is better than his latest duck suggests and has slipped to a workable mark, while Golden Prosperity is the one with the best Topspeed figure in the line-up if bouncing back. The 3yos You Mystify Me and Supremissy are interesting against exposed older sprinters, especially if either can improve again. Not a strong race in quality terms, but it is a tricky little handicap rather than a penalty kick for the favourite.
Top Selections
1. Zuffolo – 5/1 with William Hill
Jockey: Connor Beasley | Trainer: Michael Dods | Form: 00-820 | Rating: 66 | Topspeed: 46
Zuffolo is the one I want to be with. The bare form figures do not exactly scream confidence, but that second two starts ago showed there is still a race in him from this sort of mark, and Michael Dods’ sprinters are always worth a second look around these northern sharp tracks. I am happy enough to forgive the latest effort, which was too bad to be true, and stall 5 gives Connor Beasley options in a race where getting organised early is half the battle. He is not thrown in, but available at 5/1 he makes more appeal than the short-priced favourite in a messy Class 6 sprint. Bet: WIN
Bet: WIN
2. Supremissy – 9/1 with William Hill
Jockey: Andrew Mullen | Trainer: Iain Jardine | Form: 0U-93 | Rating: 64 | Topspeed: 24
Supremissy looks the each-way play at the prices. She is lightly raced compared to plenty of these battle-hardened handicappers and her latest third was at least a step in the right direction, suggesting she is beginning to learn the job. Off 64, she does not need to improve a huge amount to get seriously involved in this grade, and Iain Jardine is adept at placing this type when the opportunity arises. The Topspeed figure is modest, so she is hardly bombproof, but that is built into the 9/1 quote. In a race full of exposed sprinters with plenty of bad runs on the page, a progressive 3yo makes obvious each-way sense. Bet: EACH-WAY
Bet: EACH-WAY
Betting Strategy
Zuffolo is the win bet because he has the right draw, a workable mark and a recent piece of form that reads well enough in this company. Supremissy is the each-way alternative in a race where unexposed profile counts for plenty. Wee Mary is the obvious danger if overcoming stall 10, while Golden Prosperity could outrun his price if rediscovering one of his better sprint efforts.

16:45 – Stand In What You Stand For Handicap
Race Details: 1m | Class 5 | Going: 8.0) (rail movements (Good (goingstick) | | flat
This is a small but quite interesting mile handicap, with the older pair Highland Olly and Krissy taking on a trio of unexposed 3yos headed by Welbury and Port Darwin. In a six-runner race the tactical side could matter plenty, and Musselburgh’s sharp mile usually rewards those who travel and hold position rather than those needing everything to drop right. Welbury brings the most persuasive recent profile after a pair of runner-up efforts, while Port Darwin arrives off a win and gets in with a very light weight for Charlie Johnston. Highland Olly has stronger speed figures than most and can’t be dismissed, but this looks a race where the progressive younger legs may have the edge. Not a deep Class 5 by any means, though it is a mildly tricky little puzzle.
Top Selections
1. Welbury – 9/4 with William Hill
Jockey: Connor Beasley | Trainer: Edward Bethell | Form: 35-122 | Rating: 77 | Topspeed: 64
Welbury is the one I want on side. He has done little wrong this season, finishing second on his last two starts, and that sequence suggests a 3yo who is knocking firmly on the door rather than one the handicapper has cornered. Drawn in stall 1, he should get a handy run around a track where that can be a major asset, and Connor Beasley is the sort to make good use of that berth. His mark of 77 still looks workable judged on the consistency of his recent efforts, and 9/4 is fair enough in a race lacking depth. He holds the most solid claims and looks the percentage call. Bet: WIN
Bet: WIN
2. Highland Olly – 9/2 with William Hill
Jockey: Alistair Rawlinson | Trainer: Grant Tuer | Form: -51104 | Rating: 80 | Topspeed: 74
For an each-way angle in a tight field, Highland Olly makes more appeal than the obvious alternatives. The recent form figures are a bit mixed, but two wins earlier in the sequence show he can capitalise when things fall right, and his Topspeed figure of 74 is the best in the line-up. That matters in a race where there may not be much between them on raw ability. Grant Tuer’s 5yo is rated 80, so he does have to concede weight all round, but he’s proven, straightforward enough, and this looks easier than some races he has been contesting. At 9/2, he looks the value to chase the favourite home at worst. Bet: EACH-WAY
Bet: EACH-WAY
Betting Strategy
Welbury is the win play because he brings the cleanest recent profile, a good draw and the look of a progressive mile handicapper. Highland Olly is the each-way punt at the bigger price, with his speed figure giving him a definite chance of hitting the frame. Port Darwin is the main danger after that latest win, especially with just 114lb on his back.

17:15 – Watch On Racing TV Apprentice Handicap
Race Details: 1m | Class 6 | Going: 8.0) (rail movements (Good (goingstick) | | flat
This looks a fairly ordinary Class 6 on paper, but it is not short on angles. Union Island and Up The Jazz head the market for good reason, both arriving with recent enough form to make a solid case, while Keep Me Stable returns from an absence after finishing last year in cracking nick and could easily have a say if ready to roll. Approaching Dawn is the lightweight lurking in the wings and Jim Goldie’s runner is not easy to dismiss back at this level despite a below-par latest effort. In a seven-runner apprentice handicap, tactics and track position around Musselburgh’s sharp mile will matter plenty. It is not the deepest race of the day, but it is a tricky enough little puzzle with a few closely matched on official figures.
Top Selections
1. Union Island – 11/4 with Bet365
Jockey: Connor Planas | Trainer: Charlie Johnston | Form: 701543 | Rating: 75 | Topspeed: 61
Union Island makes plenty of appeal in a race where there are cases to make for several, but not many arrive with his mix of recent consistency and a workable draw. He won three starts back and has not run badly in defeat since, with the latest 3 reading perfectly respectably in this grade. Charlie Johnston’s horses are usually straightforward enough from the front or handy, and stall 2 around here is a definite plus if Connor Planas can hold a sensible position early. Off 75 he is not thrown in, but he does look solid, and at 11/4 he is the one I would trust most to run his race. Bet: WIN
2. Approaching Dawn – 9/2 with Bet365
Jockey: Lauren Young | Trainer: Jim Goldie | Form: -87519 | Rating: 74 | Topspeed: 64
Approaching Dawn is the each-way alternative because this race does not have loads of depth and his profile is better than that last run suggests. He had got his head in front two starts ago and his topspeed figure of 64 stacks up well enough against these, especially given he gets in here off just 120. That low weight could be a real asset in the closing stages at Musselburgh if Lauren Young can keep him within striking distance. Jim Goldie’s runners are often worth a second look in these northern handicaps, and at 9/2 he looks fairly priced for a horse capable of bouncing back quickly. Bet: EACH-WAY
Betting Strategy
Union Island is the percentage call and makes the most appeal as the win bet from a handy draw with recent solid form behind him. Approaching Dawn is the each-way play, chiefly because his low weight and recent win give him a livelier profile than the market may fully reflect. Up The Jazz and the returning Keep Me Stable look the obvious dangers.
