Naas & Hamilton Racing Tips - Joe Napier's Lucky 15 Tips for Sunday 17 May

Naas & Hamilton Racing Tips - Joe Napier's Lucky 15 Tips for Sunday 17 May

Four meetings go to post on Sunday. The Sunday Series continues on ITV at Hamilton, while Naas host Group race action.

GG tipster Joe Napier has our Lucky 15 tips for Sunday, with two apiece from that pair of meetings.

Naas Racing Tips (Sunday 17 May)

Two Group races take place at Naas on Sunday, with both of our tips running in those two contests.

4.26 Naas – Velozee (1pt win – 9/4)

Paddy Twomey has been in such exceptional form that Velozee can down Ballydoyle’s Victorious. The selection was one of nine winners in a span of just 11 runners for Twomey in a fortnight stretch recently. That is sensational form and it looked no fluke with this filly. SHe only scraped home on debut in soft ground in April at Cork. On a quicker surface though, she bolted in at the Curragh in Listed company. She cruised through the race that day though, seeing out the 5f trip strongly. The step up to 6f is not seen as an issue as a result.

4.56 Naas – Havana Anna (1pt win – 6/1)

Charles Darwin may rise inexorably through the grades now he is fit again. However, he was only workmanlike on his return, meaning odds-on prices do not appeal. That is because he faces two fairly serious rivals here. Royal Bay Cen was extremely impressive when debuting for Johnny Murtagh two weeks ago. The value may lie with Havana Anna though. The daughter of Havana Grey is no guarantee to have trained on from her high class juvenile days. She reached a significant level though, finishing second in the Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes behind 1000 Guineas heroine True Love. Her two wins both came at this track too, by a combined margin of nine-and-a-half lengths. She blew out at the Breeders’ Cup, but that is very easy to forgive. Donnacha O’Brien may throw a spanner in the works to his father’s plans here.

Hamilton Racing Tips (Sunday 17 May)

Hamilton’s meeting is part of the Sunday Series this weekend. We have two tips on the ITV Racing card.

5.15 Hamilton – Azuinthejungle (1pt win – )

Nigel Tinkler has sent out three winners from his last ten runners. That is form worth taking note of regarding Azuinthejungle. The four-year-old completed a hat-trick last summer, going up 17lb in the handicap from his low of 58 at Beverley in June 2025. He narrowly failed to win a fourth in a row at Bath off 74 before having little chance with the draw at Chester. His return saw him restlessly damage his chances in the stalls before the off. That is a slight concern behaviourally, but he is back down 2lb. He would likely have needed the run and should be close to contending again.

6.15 Hamilton – Jonny Concrete (1pt win – )

A good run at Chester last week suggested Jonny Concrete will be ahead of his current mark soon. Iain Jardine’s charge was third on the Roodee as favourite, only collared by a fast finisher for second. The winner dictated from the front so would have been very difficult to pass, but the five-year-old showed he was in good fettle. He did not win apart from first time out last term, but he went close twice afterwards. Seconds at Carlile and York were off higher ratings than the handicapper has him on currently. He was beaten just a nose over course and distance on his debut, so has form at the track too.
