17:10 – Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden (IRE Incentive Race)
Race Details: 5f | | Going: GOOD TO YIELDING, Good in places | | flat
This looks a tight little six-runner juvenile maiden rather than a deep one, and the market has probably got it about right with Aedhmar and Victorious heading affairs. Aedhmar brings the one piece of solid racecourse evidence after finishing third on debut and that experience counts for plenty in these early-season 2yo sprints at Naas. Victorious, from the Aidan O’Brien yard and ridden by Ryan Moore, is the obvious threat on paper, while Livenka adds further depth for Ger Lyons and Colin Keane. The other three need to show plenty first time up, though that is never impossible in this grade. In truth, the race may simply come down to who handles conditions best and who is sharpest from the gates over this bare 5f.
Top Selections
1. Aedhmar – 2/1 with Bet365
Jockey: Shane Foley | Trainer: Mrs John Harrington | Form: 3 | Rating: 78 | Topspeed: 52
Aedhmar sets the standard and, in a race where most of these are guessing games, that counts for a lot. She shaped with plenty of promise when third on debut, and an opening mark of 78 says that was no ordinary introduction for a filly in this company. Harrington’s juveniles usually come forward for a run, and Shane Foley knows exactly how to ride these sharp 5f races at Naas. At 2/1 she is not exactly slipping under the radar, but she has the form in the book, the benefit of experience and very likely a bit more to come. She looks the solid one.
Bet: WIN
2. Livenka – 7/2 with Bet365
Jockey: Colin Keane | Trainer: G M Lyons | Form: | Rating: | Topspeed:
Livenka makes most appeal of the newcomers at the prices. The Lyons-Keane combination is always worth respecting in juvenile races, especially when they pitch one into a race like this at Naas rather than hiding away in weaker company. She does have to take on rivals with experience, which is never ideal over a sharp 5f, but this is only a six-runner field and that gives a well-prepared debutante a fair chance to get involved. With Victorious shorter in places, Livenka appeals more as the value alternative at 7/2 if you want something at an each-way price against the obvious pair.
Bet: EACH-WAY
Betting Strategy
Aedhmar is the percentage call and makes plenty of sense as the win bet given she has already shown useful ability. For an each-way punt, Livenka is the one who could outrun her lack of experience for a top yard. Victorious is the clear danger on connections and market strength, while Ballinea Star is the only bigger-priced one I could see nicking minor money.

17:45 – Enjoy Racing TV With A FREE Trial Now Handicap
Race Details: 5f | | Going: GOOD TO YIELDING, Good in places | | flat
This is a proper 3yo sprint handicap rather than a gift for punters, with several arriving in form and a few lurking on workable marks. Allsortz comes here off a win and is obvious, while Bad Boy Rizz also signed off last season with a success and has the look of a colt who could still have a bit in hand. Coincidental Glory has been knocking loudly on the door and his Topspeed figure catches the eye, while Amiata is the classier name on jockey bookings and stable reputation, even if she has yet to fully deliver on it this spring. Over 5f at Naas, a sharp break and a handy pitch usually count for plenty, so draw, pace and the ability to travel strongly will decide it. Tricky, yes, but not impossible.
Top Selections
1. Coincidental Glory – 11/2 with Bet365
Jockey: Adam Caffrey | Trainer: Adrian McGuinness | Form: 5231-2 | Rating: 79 | Topspeed: 74
He makes plenty of appeal in a race where a few of the market principals are already exposed enough for their marks. Coincidental Glory ended last season with a win and returned with a solid second, so the progression is there for all to see, and that Topspeed figure of 74 is the best on offer in this field. Drawn 3, he should be able to hold a sensible position, which is no bad thing in these Naas sprints. Adrian McGuinness does well with this type and 11/2 looks a fair price for a colt arriving with the right profile and less weight than most of the obvious dangers. Bet: WIN
2. Amiata – 7/1 with Bet365
Jockey: Colin Keane | Trainer: G M Lyons | Form: 564-55 | Rating: 86 | Topspeed: 53
Amiata hasn’t exactly screamed “back me next time” in two runs this term, but this is the sort of race where the right yard and the right jockey can make the difference. Colin Keane taking over for Ger Lyons is enough to make you sit up, and she is not badly treated on 86 if able to reproduce the better bits of her juvenile form. Stall 6 gives Keane options and she doesn’t need to improve bundles to get involved. At 7/1, she looks the each-way value against some shorter-priced rivals who may have less room for manoeuvre from the assessor. Bet: EACH-WAY
Betting Strategy
Coincidental Glory is the main play here, with his recent consistency, low draw and standout Topspeed figure making him the percentage call. Amiata is the saver each-way at 7/1, chiefly because Keane and Lyons are not a combination to ignore in a race like this. The obvious dangers are Allsortz after that recent win and Bad Boy Rizz, who could easily prove better than his current mark.

18:15 – Colm White Bookmaker Handicap
Race Details: 5f | | Going: GOOD TO YIELDING, Good in places | | flat
This is a proper sprint handicap rather than a flimsy early-season affair, with plenty arriving from different angles and very little room for error over a sharp 5f. Staysound Susie comes here on the back of a win and is sure to be popular, while Bishopton has obvious appeal after scoring on his return and still looks on the upgrade. Indigo Dream is another with solid current form and a handy racing weight, and the three-year-old Howd’Yadoit is interesting if coping with older sprinters. At the top end, Tango Flare and Valiant Force have the class but also carry enough baggage to make them opposable at the prices. Tricky? Absolutely. But it still feels like a race where recent sharpness could count for plenty.
Top Selections
1. Indigo Dream – 5/1 with Betfair
Jockey: Shane Foley | Trainer: Ross O’Sullivan | Form: 531-32 | Rating: 101 | Topspeed: 78
Indigo Dream looks the percentage call in a race full of temptations. He has been admirably solid around this level, and that recent 3-2 sequence suggests he has returned in good order and is holding his form well. A mark of 101 does not look harsh given how consistently he has been running, and he gets in here with just 123 to carry, which matters in a race where several of the bigger names are lumbered with more. Shane Foley is a good booking for a horse who should be able to travel strongly from stall 4 and strike late. Available at 5/1, he makes plenty of appeal as the one to beat.
Bet: WIN
2. Headmaster – 17/2 with Bet365
Jockey: Chris Hayes | Trainer: Edward Lynam | Form: 10081- | Rating: 106 | Topspeed: 87
Headmaster is the each-way play because he looks the sort who could easily outrun his price if ready to go first time. His form figures are a mixed bag at a glance, but that win at the end of last season was a timely reminder that he can be very effective in sprint handicaps when things drop right. Drawn in 1, he may need a bit of luck depending on how the track is riding, but Chris Hayes is exactly the kind of rider you want on a horse who may need delivering late. At 17/2 with four places on offer, he looks a perfectly fair each-way punt in a wide-open contest.
Bet: EACH-WAY
Betting Strategy
Indigo Dream is the win bet because he brings the cleanest recent profile and looks well positioned to exploit this mark. Headmaster is the each-way alternative at a workable price, especially with four places available. The obvious dangers are Bishopton, who may still be progressing, and Staysound Susie, who arrives in winning form and won’t need much more to figure again.

18:45 – Irish EBF Median Sires Series Maiden (IRE Incentive Race)
Race Details: 5f | | Going: GOOD TO YIELDING, Good in places | | flat
This looks a fairly straightforward juvenile maiden on paper rather than a fiendish betting heat. Force Noir has already shown a useful level of form, finishing runner-up on debut and earning a mark of 88, which leaves the rest with plenty to find. In these early-season 2yo sprints, experience can count for a lot, especially over a sharp 5f, and he sets the standard by some margin. The market reflects that. The interesting angle is underneath him, where Joseph O’Brien’s newcomer Mr Montauk and Harrington’s filly Lady Patrona appeal as the likeliest dangers among the unraced brigade. Whammy has had a look already but the bare figures don’t suggest he’s about to turn this upside down. Strong favourite, but not a deep race.
Top Selections
1. Force Noir – 4/9 with Bet365
Jockey: David Egan | Trainer: Robson De Aguiar | Form: 2 | Rating: 88 | Topspeed: 55
He’s the obvious one, but sometimes the obvious one is still the right one. That debut second is comfortably the best piece of form in the race and an 88 rating puts him clear of these if he runs to the same level again. Drawn widest in seven isn’t ideal for a juvenile over 5f at Naas, but class can smooth over plenty in a small field and David Egan should be positive from the gates. At 4/9 he’s no gift, but he’s hard to oppose because the opposition is mostly guesswork. If he breaks on terms and handles these conditions, he should take a lot of beating. Bet: WIN
2. Mr Montauk – 9/2 with Paddy Power
Jockey: J M Sheridan | Trainer: Joseph Patrick O’Brien | Form: | Rating: | Topspeed:
For an each-way play, I’d rather side with the Joseph O’Brien newcomer than chase something with modest exposed form. Mr Montauk has a handy draw in three and comes from a yard more than capable of readying a juvenile first time out, especially in a race lacking depth beyond the favourite. The price around 9/2 makes some appeal in a seven-runner field where finishing in the first two is the target for each-way backers. He doesn’t need to be a world-beater to hit the frame, just professional enough on debut to pick off the lesser fancied types. He looks the value alternative to the jolly. Bet: EACH-WAY
Betting Strategy
Keep it simple here. Force Noir is the win bet because he brings the only solid piece of worthwhile form and sets a clear standard. For those wanting a better price, Mr Montauk makes most appeal as the each-way option against largely unproven rivals. Lady Patrona is the obvious danger if the market speaks for her, but this should really revolve around the favourite.

19:15 – Anglesey Lodge Equine Hospital Woodlands Stakes (Listed Race)
Race Details: 5f | | Going: GOOD TO YIELDING, Good in places | | flat
This is a proper sprint puzzle rather than a penalty kick, with proven Group-class speed mixed in with a couple of interesting younger legs. Bucanero Fuerte is the obvious class act on peak figures and King Cuan arrives with solid Irish sprint form, while Fahrenheit Seven comes here chasing a hat-trick after doing his recent winning in lower grade. The three-year-olds add a fascinating wrinkle: Mission Central gets plenty of weight and already has a lofty mark, while Cardiff By The Sea is another unexposed type with scope to improve. Big Gossey showed he retains plenty of fire when scoring last time, but this looks deeper. In a 16-runner 5f dash at Naas, tactical sharpness and getting a clear run will matter every bit as much as raw ratings.
Top Selections
1. Mission Central – 9/2 with Bet365
Jockey: Ryan Moore | Trainer: A P O’Brien | Form: 11610- | Rating: 114 | Topspeed: 108
The three-year-old allowance makes him seriously interesting in a race where some of the older sprinters are fully exposed. Mission Central signed off last season with three wins from four starts and already has the look of a colt well above average for this trip. A mark of 114 and a topspeed of 108 tell you he belongs at this level, and getting in here with just 128lb is a major asset against hardened Listed sprinters. Ryan Moore riding for Ballydoyle only adds to the appeal. At 9/2 with Bet365, he looks the one with the most upside and may simply be better than these before the season is out. Bet: WIN
Bet: WIN
2. Big Gossey – 20/1 with Paddy Power
Jockey: Robert Whearty | Trainer: Charles O’Brien | Form: 052-01 | Rating: 114 | Topspeed: 69
You know exactly what you are getting with Big Gossey: loads of speed, plenty of streetcraft and a willingness to put himself in the race. He bounced back to winning ways last time and, for all that he is a nine-year-old, his rating of 114 says he still retains enough ability to be competitive in this company. Drawn 5, he should be able to get on with things from a handy pitch, and in these big-field Naas sprints that counts for plenty. He is not the sexy pick, but 20/1 with Paddy Power feels a fair each-way price for a horse who has mixed it at a much higher level in the past. Bet: EACH-WAY
Bet: EACH-WAY
Betting Strategy
Mission Central is the win play on the strength of his profile, weight and obvious scope to improve past older sprinters. For an each-way punt, Big Gossey makes plenty of appeal at a chunky price in a race where experience counts. The main dangers are Bucanero Fuerte on class, King Cuan on consistency and Fahrenheit Seven, who is progressive enough to keep climbing.

19:45 – Naas Racecourse Business Club Blackwater Handicap (Premier Handicap)
Race Details: 1m | | Going: GOOD TO YIELDING, Good in places | | flat
This is a proper 3yo handicap rather than a numbers exercise, with several arriving unexposed and a few already looking well up to premier-handicap standard. Trojan Warrior will have plenty of supporters for Ballydoyle after winning on debut before finding life tougher in Pattern company, while Controlled has been knocking on the door in better races and brings a lofty mark of 105. Bobby McGee is another obvious player after a smooth return success, and Invincible Will has the best Topspeed figure in the field, which immediately puts him on the shortlist. Add in unbeaten hat-trick seeker Felix Guido and lightly raced Jamestown, and it becomes the sort of race where tactical pace and who improves most from two to three could decide it. Competitive, but not impossible to solve.
Top Selections
1. Bobby McGee – 13/2 with Bet365
Jockey: Chris Hayes | Trainer: Noel Meade | Form: 6434-1 | Rating: 107 | Topspeed: 94
He makes plenty of appeal. That comeback win suggested he has done well from two to three, and the manner of it hinted there may still be a bit left in the locker despite now being on a mark of 107. The profile is solid rather than flashy, but in races like this I often prefer one who has already shown he can cope in a scrap. Drawn in 2, with Chris Hayes up, he ought to get a handy stalking position and Naas tends to reward that. At 13/2 with Bet365, he looks a fair price against rivals who are perhaps a touch more fashionable but not necessarily more solid. Bet: WIN
2. Invincible Will – 13/2 with Paddy Power
Jockey: Robert Whearty | Trainer: Gavin Cromwell | Form: 6310-2 | Rating: 104 | Topspeed: 101
He looks the value each-way play. That Topspeed mark of 101 jumps off the page in this field, and his latest second on seasonal return was just the sort of run you want to see coming into a race like this. Gavin Cromwell’s horses are rarely turned out without a plan, and from stall 3 he should be able to travel prominently without wasting energy. He doesn’t have the sexiest profile in the line-up, which is probably why he is still available at 13/2, but he has already shown enough substance to suggest he can hit the frame at the very least. In a race packed with improvers, he still looks a very sensible each-way punt. Bet: EACH-WAY
Betting Strategy
Bobby McGee is the win play after that encouraging reappearance success and looks the one with the strongest blend of current form and race position. Invincible Will is the each-way alternative, especially with three places on offer and a profile that suggests he will run his race. The main dangers are Controlled, who has strong handicap form, and Trojan Warrior, who could easily step forward now back in calmer waters.

20:15 – Race & Stay Fillies Maiden
Race Details: 1m 2f | | Going: GOOD TO YIELDING, Good in places | | flat
This looks a useful enough fillies’ maiden for the grade, with several bringing solid placed form and a couple of notable newcomers adding intrigue. Glyfada sets the standard on the back of a debut second and it is no surprise she heads the market, while Sounds Great and the thoroughly exposed but reliable Arrietty also arrive with obvious claims. Cape Primrose is another who should come forward from her reappearance and has the right connections for a race like this. The shape of it suggests the one who improves most for this step up to 1m2f will take it, and that makes it slightly less straightforward than the betting implies. It is competitive enough, but not an impossible puzzle.
Top Selections
1. Glyfada – 13/8 with Bet365
Jockey: Chris Hayes | Trainer: Donnacha Aidan O’Brien | Form: 2 | Rating: 82 | Topspeed: 23
There was plenty to like about Glyfada’s debut second and she is the one I want on side now stepping up in trip. She showed enough on that first outing to suggest there is a fair bit more under the bonnet, and in a race where a few of these have already had several chances, that potential counts for plenty. Donnacha O’Brien’s fillies often improve sharply from first to second start, and Chris Hayes is an eye-catching booking to get the fractions right. At 13/8 with Bet365 she is short enough, but not unfairly so given she looks the most likely improver in the field. Bet: WIN

2. Cape Primrose – 7/2 with Bet365
Jockey: Ryan Moore | Trainer: A P O’Brien | Form: 52-4 | Rating: 85 | Topspeed: 72
Cape Primrose makes plenty of each-way appeal. She shaped with promise in two runs at two, then returned with a respectable fourth, and this extra distance could easily unlock a bit more. The fact she already owns a rating of 85 gives her a solid platform in a maiden like this, and that topspeed figure of 72 stacks up well enough too. Ryan Moore riding for A P O’Brien in a fillies’ maiden at Naas is not the sort of combination you dismiss lightly, and 7/2 with Bet365 looks fair if you think she is still progressing rather than standing still. She is not bombproof, but she is very much in the right race. Bet: EACH-WAY

Betting Strategy
Glyfada is the win play, as she looks the runner with the most upside and should improve for both experience and this longer trip. For an each-way punt, Cape Primrose makes plenty of sense with Ryan Moore booked and her profile still pointing the right way. The obvious dangers are Sounds Great, who brings strong recent placed form, and Arrietty, who is consistent but starting to look expensive to follow.
