Sunday’s racing is down to just two meetings, but there is one flat and one jumps card apiece. For fans of the all-weather, Chelmsford go to post, while Navan‘s is the jumps meeting in Ireland.
It is across the Irish Sea that Andrew Mount looks for a winner on Sunday. He has a solitary best bet for you to follow in a Grade 2 novice chase.
Navan Racing Tips (Sunday 8 February 2026)
Navan hosts one of its biggest meetings of the year on Sunday. Featuring a pair of Graded level contests, it is in the Ten Up Novice Chase in which Andrew’s tip of the day runs.
3.50 Navan – Oscars Brother (1pt win – 5/4 generally)
Gold Dancer is sharing favouritism in this 3m Grade 2 novices’ chase, but the heavy ground is a major concern. Willie Mullins’ seven-year-old has a three from nine record with the three wins coming on the three fastest surfaces he has encountered – Proform Going Adjustments of 1.68, -0.12 and -056. His record on anything slower stands at 74P022 (0-6) and he might have to play second fiddle to Oscars Brother, a son of Malinas who is well equipped to cope with underfoot conditions. I wrote him up in Racing and Football Outlook back in January 2024 when a 25-1 second in a Cork maiden hurdle on his Rules debut and he was very well backed (11-10f) when scoring by 13 lengths in the mud at Limerick next time. The eight-year-old was later purchased by J P McManus and has done well over fences, recording form figures of 2211 (2-4), clocking a good time when landing a Grade 2 at Punchestown in late November – his first chase start on proper soft ground.
