Newbury Racing Tips (Friday 27 February 2026)
Six races get under way at Newbury at 2.00pm with four hurdle and two chase races. We have two selections for the day here.
4.08 Newbury – Kotmask (1pt win – 8/1)
Gary & Josh Moore’s Kotmask has jumped poorly at times, but when he can string a clear round together he has the potential to be well handicapped off 129 in the 4.08pm. On his last completed finish, he chased home Vanderpoel at Sandown. That horse is now fancied for the Grand Annual at the Cheltenham Festival, so the form is strong. His falls tend to come at Sandown, but Newbury should offer him an easier jumping task, and with blinkers reapplied he can defy top weight.
4.43 Newbury – Call Me Legend (1pt win – 9/4)
A length winner at Exeter in January, Call Me Legend then went and won by the same margin at Wincanton in February. The Philip Hobbs & Johnson White-trained raider has been given a 4lbs rise by the handicapper, so lines up off 116. This class 3 race is a notable step up as well, but he’s certainly going the right way. He will need to produce a career best to land this prize, but he’s progressing with every outing and looks capable of continuing his winning run in the final race of the day at the Berkshire track.
Doncaster Racing Tips (Friday 27 February 2026)
There’s a seven-race card at Doncaster that gets under way at 1.50pm, with four hurdle races and three chases. Two selections complete the GG Lucky 15 for Friday afternoon’s horse racing.
2.20 Doncaster – Noahsgreatrainbow (1pt win – 5/2)
Harry Derham’s Noahsgreatrainbow appeared to be going places when cruising to victory at Wincanton in December. However, he failed to follow up off a 6lbs higher mark at Hereford last time out. Pulled up that day, he is entitled to be given another chance off the same mark of 120. He will have to contend with top weight, but the seven-year-old is still lightly-raced and if he can recapture that Wincanton form then looks capable of landing this trappy four-runner event.
3.22 Doncaster – Minella Jury (1pt win – 7/2)
A beaten favourite on his last visit to Doncaster, Minella Jury has since had wind surgery and that could work wonders for the Nigel Twiston-Davies-trained runner in the 3.22pm. The six-year-old had previously won at Uttoxeter, so has shown he can deliver over hurdles. He’s been given an initial mark of 118, which certainly looks fair, if he can show the form he showed two starts ago. Plenty of potentially improving sorts line up here, but Minella Jury can prove to be the one with most progression and land the money.
