GG tipster Joe Napier picks out our Lucky 15 tips for Wednesday. He waits for the evening action to get underway, with a pair of tips each from Newbury and Kempton.
Newbury Racing Tips (Wednesday 26 August)
Seven races take place at Newbury on Wednesday, with six attracting fields of nine or more runners. At a good, competitive evening meeting, Joe has two tips as part of our lucky 15.
6.30 Newbury – Cloud Forest (1pt win – 11/2)
Intriguingly campaigned thus far, Cloud Forest could well reap the benefits of his racing on handicap debut. Saeed bin Suroor’s four-year-old only made it to the track this season. He showed little on debut at Nottingham, but was a close runner-up at Leicester next time out. He filled the same position at Kempton, with his last two pieces of form working out well. Both of those races came over 1m2f, but on breeding, he should be no more than a miler. Therefore, the son of Blue Point may well appreciate the drop back to 1m here. His unconventional preparation may prove ideal, with a mark of 83 likely to be lenient.
7.00 Newbury – Lion Of Mali (1pt win – 11/4)
Although Bold Shout brings significant potential to his handicap debut, he beat a 100/1 shot last time into second. That runner-up muddies the form and it may pay instead to side with the consistent Lion Of Mali. The Sands Of Mali gelding has form on good ground or quicker of 1122. His victory at Sandown in June was striking after being forced to delay his challenge. Both recent seconds have been solid efforts too. He has gone up 1lb for each of those, but he passes the eye test as a horse probably still on the upgrade. Jack Mitchell rode him too patiently last time and David Egan can be more assertive here.
Kempton Racing Tips (Wednesday 26 August)
Kempton will soon host Constitution Hill again, but in the meantime, their six-race evening card possesses two of our Wednesday lucky 15 tips.
7.51 Kempton – Bintknight (1pt win – 15/8)
On her first all-weather start, Bintknight can make it three wins from five starts. The daughter of Pinatubo may not sound a stayer based on her sire. However, there is plenty of stamina on her dam’s side, and also lots of hope for how she will deal with artificial surfaces. All three of her siblings have won on the all-weather in their careers. Bintknight’s two wins came on turf at Lingfield, both over 1m2f. Her victory at the Surrey track last time out saw her make all and stay thoroughly through the finish line. She now steps up to 1m4f, but racing evidence suggests she will cope with that increase. Up just 2lb for her recent success, she can continue to take advantage of her mark.
8.21 Kempton – Aigeas (1pt win – 7/2)
Oliver Cole’s Aigeas boasts an unusual profile. Three turf starts have provided little of note, as he has finished down the field in all three. On the all-weather, he has proven a totally different beast, however. He scored on debut at Deavuille last October before his trio of turf races. Returned to the Polytrack at Kempton though, he bolted up under Harry Davies at the start of July. He races over the same course and distance here, though the handicapper has not missed him. Nevertheless, he looked capable of rising much higher in class when winning last time out. He can defy a 10lb rise to score again and defend his unbeaten all-weather record.
