Newbury Racing Tips (Wednesday 14 January 2026)
Newbury hosts the only jumps meeting in England on Wednesday, with seven races to enjoy. Andrew’s selection comes in the opener on the card.
12.35 Newbury – Yeld To Call (0.5pt e/w – 14/1 Paddy Power)
Yeld To Call has shown considerable promise in her three starts to date, finishing fourth in a soft-ground Newbury bumper in December 2024, fourth in a fast-ground Chepstow bumper on her reappearance in mid-October before her hurdles debut 33-1 fourth of ten over today’s track and trip (good to soft). That experience would have been needed and it’s interesting to note the subsequent wind operation. Jane Williams has yet to give wind surgery to one of her runners since training in her own right but the score when training in conjunction with ex-husband Nick Williams was two from nine, with the wins at 16-1 and 10-1. She’s going to have her work cut out to beat the Hobbs and White-trained Sober Glory, four from four on galloping/two-mile in circumference tracks and down in class after his Sandown Listed fourth, but she appeals from an each-way perspective. I may also play her in the ‘without the favourite’ market.
Lingfield Racing Tips (Wednesday 14 January 2026)
Conversely to Newbury, Andrew waits for a selection until the final race on Lingfield’s eight-race all-weather card.
3.40 Lingfield – Me Tarzan (1pt win – 8/1 bet365) and Tadreeb (0.5pt win – 8/1 bet365)
Me Tarzan underachieved when with James Fanshawe, largely thanks to his old trainer’s insistence on his horses being ridden patiently, even on tracks with an obviously strong bias to front-runners. The four-year-old son of Bungle Inthejungle was given a prominent ride when making a successful debut for Archie Watson over course and distance last month and his subsequent Chelmsford sixth is safely ignored as he took the ‘swamp’ route on the inside rail. Two rail runners from that January 2nd meeting have already come out and won and the early market has over-reacted to that performance.
I want to save on Rod Millman’s Tadreeb, who came good in January last year, winning three times over course and distance in a ten-day spell. Those wins came off marks of 67, 71 and 74 and he’s been dropped 2lb to a mark of 71 after finishing eighth of 12 at Southwell earlier this month. His course record during the January to March period, after a recent run (28 days or less) and when drawn in stall 9 or lower stands at 1141144 (4-7) for a profit of £18.13 to a £1 level stake at SP.
