Newcastle Racing Tips (Friday 27 March 2026)

A bumper nine-race card takes place at Newcastle, with some of the action starring on ITV Racing later in the evening. Check out Andrew’s best bets for the day at the north east track.

7.00 Newcastle – Rousing Encore (0.5pt e/w – 16/1 William Hill, one-quarter the odds four places, 16/1 bet365, but only one-fifth of the odds)

There is plenty of early pace on offer in this 6f handicap from the likes of Power Fizz, Twilight Fun, Mister Bluebird, Hockney and perhaps Sergeant Wilko and with the wind into their faces it looks like the race will be set up for a closer. The Ruth Carr-trained Rousing Encore has been off the track for 139 since his close-up 22-1 third of 22 at Doncaster last backend but it’s worth taking a chance on his hold-up performer’s fitness. He finished an unlucky-in-running course and distance fifth in December 2024 on his latest start on synthetics (he has the best last time out all-weather speed figure based on that performance according to Proform’s figures) and stall 9 will allow him to get plenty of cover in the early stages.

19:00 SBK: Betting Without The Bull Handicap

8.00 Newcastle – Wreck It Ryley (0.5pt e/w – 40/1 bet365, four places)

Four of Wreck It Ryley’s five wins have come on turf, but he probably just prefers a straight track and hasn’t had many suitable opportunities on the all-weather, with his two such runs in handicap company producing a 6-1 win and a 4-1 neck second of 13, both over 5f at Southwell. Alan Brown’s six-year-old returned from a winter break to score over 6f at Thirsk last April and went down narrowly in third place over the same course and distance on his 2024 comeback. He also seems happiest when drawn near a rail, with his three wins for his current trainer coming from stall 11 of 11 at Ripon (6f), 9 of 9 at Thirsk (6f) and 2 of 14 at Leicester (7f). Tonight’s 7f trip might be a shade further than ideal but he’s drawn closest to the near side rail in stall 12 of 12 (the stalls are far side, but they often come across) and he’s worth chancing at a big price. I’ve saved on Flowstate, whose course and distance record reads 15111 (4-5).
