Newcastle Racing Tips (Friday 6 February 2026)
Nine races make up Newcastle’s Friday Night Live card, but it’s only the final seven races on ITV. We focus on the live terrestrial racing and pick our best bets.
5.30 Newcastle – Sea Legend (1pt win – 11/4)
Jim Goldie’s Sea Legend broke a long losing run last time out when winning at Newcastle earlier this week. Making a rapid turnaround, the six-year-old doesn’t carry a penalty, so takes his chance off 64 again. He drops back in trip slightly for Friday’s 5.30pm contest, but that shouldn’t pose too many problems, so he looks a solid option. Rated in the 80s during his pomp, a mark of 64 looks more than attractive for the first race on ITV.
6.00 Newcastle – Good Earth (1pt win – 13/2)
Good Earth may not be the force of old, but the nine-year-old could well be good enough to win the 6.00pm. Rated in the 90s a few seasons back, he showed the fire still burns when winning at Southwell two runs ago. He failed to follow up next time out, but did suffer traffic in running that day. A course-and-distance winner here, he is only 2lbs higher than his last winning mark, and he certainly has the class to reign here.
7.30 Newcastle – Advancing (1pt win – 6/1)
Marco Botti’s Advancing romped to an impressive win at Wolverhampton back in December, and he ran creditably off a higher mark last time. Fourth of nine that day, he runs off the same mark in the 7.30pm at Newcastle. He was fourth on his only other visit to Newcastle, but he’s still lightly-raced and could prove to be better than 84. He just failed to hold a positive position at Wolves on his last outing, so will hope for a smoother passage in this hugely-competitive betting heat. If he can sit prominently then he could well be in the shake-up at the end.
8.00 Newcastle – North View (1pt win – 5/1)
Often struggling whilst under the stewardship of George Boughey, North View made a superb start to life under Stuart Williams with a win at Chelmsford. That success came in January, and he shaped like there could certainly be more improvement. Upped 4lbs for a comfortable three-quarters-of-a-length win, the five-year-old can duly make it two wins in a row. This is a bit tougher, but Williams appears to have found what makes him tick and he can continue his unbeaten run for the handler.
