This 6f Listed fillies’ stakes looks set to be run at a strong pace thanks to the presence of front-runners America Queen (stall 2 of 11) and Miss Nightcap (stall 7). The last Pontefract meeting saw plenty of winners challenge wide and I’m happy to side with a hold-up performer who could switch down the centre to challenge. Step forward Arabian Dusk, who looks worth a small each-way play despite the 382-day absence since her best-of-the-closers sixth in the 2025 Group 3 Oak Tree Stakes at Goodwood. The Simon and Ed Crisford-trained four-year-old has form when fresh and rarely finishes out of the frame. The tongue-tie goes on, a positive angle for this yard, and the stiff track will suit.
5.45 Pontefract – Reigning Profit (0.5pt e/w – 20/1 Sky Bet, Paddy Power, 16/1 generally)
Reigning Profit (stall 7 of 8) should get a nice tow into the race from front-runners One And Gone (stall 5) and Baker Blue (stall 6) and is taken to enhance his solid course record. If we only consider his 5f Pontefract runs his record becomes 112118845 (4-9), with the latest defeat excusable as he raced up with the pace when his best efforts have come under patient tactics. If the wide route is favoured as I suspect, then he’ll be in the right place at the business end.
