The final day of 2025 sees four racecourses go to post with meetings in Britain and Ireland. For our Lucky 15 on Wednesday 31 December, the focus is on Lingfield, Punchestown and Warwick.
GG tipster Joe Napier picks out our Lucky 15 best bets across the New Year’s Eve cards, including in the feature contests at both Punchestown and Lingfield.
Punchestown Racing Tips (Wednesday 31 December 2025)
Punchestown’s meeting on New Year’s Eve may not host any Graded action, but there is still some top quality action, as our tips come from a hot beginners’ chase and a competitive hurdle contest featuring a former Champion Chase favourite.
12.35 Punchestown – Argento Boy (1pt e/w – 8/1)
Stablemate Ballygunner Castle is preferred by Paul Townend, but Argento Boy looked to be responding to Sean O’Keeffe’s urgings when falling four from home on their mutual chase debut at this track three weeks ago and it is possible the supposed second string will achieve more. The grey has a good Punchestown record, only narrowly being denied over hurdles there by talented mare The Big Westerner, then getting off the mark over timber by 15 lengths in February. He also ran well in Grade 1 company there to conclude last season, as well as in a top level bumper, so should appreciate a test here at some point over fences and he definitely makes more appeal at the prices.
2.05 Punchestown – Glen Kiln (1pt e/w – 16/1)
A decent each-way bet in the feature may prove to be Glen Kiln, who has higher class hurdling form in the book than he is perhaps getting credit for, which is more than can be said of some big names dominating the market. Ballyadam is rising 11, El Fabiolo’s chequered record over fences does not immediately make him appeal back over hurdles, and Spillane’s Tower was well beaten in handicap company when stepped down to the smaller obstacles, whereas the selection won in good style over course and distance in October while also proving clearly superior to 154 and 157-rated opponents behind Lossiemouth in the Grade 1 Morgiana Hurdle.
Lingfield Racing Tips (Wednesday 31 December 2025)
Lingfield’s card on the all-weather hosts the final Pattern race of 2025, and our Lucky 15 selection runs in that Listed contest.
2.00 Lingfield – Military Academy (1pt e/w – 13/2)
Jane Chapple-Hyam has been adept at preparing one for the all-weather this season and so Military Academy may be overpriced in this Listed contest, especially if the market begins to speak favourably. The four-year-old’s form began to tail off for the Gosdens, but that was all on turf, whereas his sole victory at this level was on an artificial surface at Kempton, while he was also second in a Group 3 as recently as February at Southwell. He is bang there on ratings and if a visor also helps to perk him up, he could well be a danger to the odds-on favourite Tyrrhenian Sea.
Warwick Racing Tips (Wednesday 31 December 2025)
Warwick’s is the pre-eminent New Year’s Eve jumps card in Britain to end 2025, with our tip coming in an intriguing handicap hurdle.
2.22 Warwick – Sunshine Diamond (1pt e/w – 14/1)
Neil Mulholland’s Sunshine Diamond bumped into a resurgent veteran for an in-form yard at Doncaster and the six-year-old may well profit on this second run of the season. His record after breaks of 100 days or more has been poor both in the point-to-point and rules sphered, so he can be forgiven that recent run, in which he was the only one of three rivals to serve it up to the easy winner. He was probably value for better than a heavy deficit in defeat and as a two-time winner in maiden and novice events for his former and current trainer, he may well have the ability to feature off this mark now that race fitness is on his side.
