Ripon Racing Tips (Saturday 15 August 2026)
Racedays do not get bigger at Ripon, with the Great St Wilfrid Handicap their showcase event on Saturday. Andrew has a tip at the track, which runs in the race after the feature.
3.55 Ripon – Capital Guarantee (0.5 pt e/w – 12/1 bet365)
Capital Guarantee is best on sharp tracks and the straight mile was no help to him at Redcar last Saturday where his 12-1 sixth of 14 was worthy of an upgrade as he was poorly drawn in stall 10 and raced down the middle of the track when all the action was far side (first five drawn 6, 4, 7, 3 and 2). David O’Meara’s six-year-old scored at Thirsk on his penultimate start and his two previous Ripon runs produced a 10-1 win and a close-up 7-2 third, both over this mile trip. His wide draw isn’t ideal but I still want a small each-way interest. Veteran Garden Oasis could be in receipt of an easy lead and is worth a saver.
Doncaster Racing Tips (Saturday 15 August 2026)
It is not quite the St Leger meeting at Doncaster on Saturday, but Town moor continues to gear up for the final Classic with a seven-race card this weekend. Andrew’s selection runs in the fifth contest.
4.10 Doncaster – Golden Long (1pt win – 7/2 Betfair, Paddy Power)
It was difficult to come from too far off the pace at Newmarket’s meeting on July 4th where the winners were described by the Racing Post as “in touch with leaders”, “prominent, disputed lead and hung left 2f out”, “prominent”, “took keen hold, pressed leader, led over 2f out”, “held up in rear”, “raced far side, prominent” and “took keen hold in rear”. Golden Long caught the eye in winning under a patient ride in the 6f 0-80 handicap and he clearly appreciated the fast ground after his previous Newbury flop on officially good to soft going. The Lemos De Souza-trained five-year-old is now two from two over 6f trip on a sound surface for his current trainer and, while today’s trip is 77 yards of that distance, he could still prove capable of following up. I’ve saved on course expert Zubaru.
Lingfield Racing Tips (Saturday 15 August 2026)
Lingfield’s six-race card starts just before 5.15pm on Saturday. Andrew’s selection runs in race three.
6.16 Lingfield – Stock Market (1pt win – 4/1 Paddy Power)
Only four runners are due to line up in this 5f all-weather handicap, but Robert Cowell’s London Is Blue, who wears cheekpieces for the first time, could prove vulnerable. Cowell has a poor record with this headgear, scoring with just two of the 111 qualifiers since the beginning of 2018 for a loss of £105.52 to a £1 level stake at SP (expected wins = 9.84, A/E = 0.20). With front-runners Enter Sandman (stall 1) and Wyle Cop (stall 2) candidates to take each other on for the lead, I’m going to side with hold-up performer Stock Market who should be able to pounce late down the middle of the track under Luke Morris. Wyle Cop looks the main danger despite the pace scenario and could be the one for the forecast.
