Royal Ascot Racing Tips - Andrew Mount's Best Bets for Saturday 20 June

Royal Ascot has been a treat all week and there is still one full seven-race card to enjoy at the Berkshire track on Saturday afternoon.

Andrew Mount has five best bets to conclude Royal Ascot, the quintet competing across three different races.

Royal Ascot Racing Tips (Saturday 20 June 2026)

Royal Ascot concludes with seven hugely competitive races, with Andrew Mount selecting five best bets across three races.

4.20 Ascot – The Prettiest Star (1pt e/w – 15/2 Paddy Power, 7/1 generally with the other firms paying first four) & Into The Sky (0.5pt e/w – 6/1 Coral, BetVictor, both four places)

Since 2009, backing all Jersey Stakes runners who prepped in an Irish or English Guineas would have found nine winners from 56 bets for a profit of £48.50 at SP (+£69.63 at Betfair SP after 2% commission, expected winners = 4.89, A/E = 1.84). Ed Walker’s The Prettiest Star emerged second best of the disadvantaged far-side bunch when fourth of 19 in the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket and rates a solid each-way bet.

Into The Sky also qualifies on the Guineas angle, having clearly failed to stay the mile trip when fourth to Bow Echo at Newmarket. He was 12 lengths behind the winner, but the form has received numerous boosts, and he too was drawn on the wrong side of the track. There’s a nagging doubt and that he might burn himself out over this 7f trip and ultimately prove best as a sprinter but he’s still worth a small interest.

16:20 Jersey Stakes (Group 3)

5.00 Ascot – Ten Pounds (0.5pte/w – 12/1 Coral, Ladbrokes) & Completely Random (0.5pt e/w – 14/1 Hills, Coral, Ladbrokes)

Three of the first four home in the 5f Listed Achilles Stakes raced up with the pace, with Kevin Ryan’s Washington Heights, my Weekend Watch nap, prevailing by a half a length from the patiently-ridden Ten Pounds. Joey Ramsden’s runner-up, wearing cheekpieces for the first time, did well to finish so close especially as he challenged more towards the far-side ‘dead’ rail and he finished a close-up third off a 3lb higher mark in this race last season when trained by Harry Charlton.

On the subject of Harry Charlton, last year’s close-up fifth Completely Random looks set to run another big race. The five-year-old won twice at this trip on Lingfield’s Polytrack in January, including at Listed level, and has had excuses in two runs on turf this term, failing to react positively to a first-time tongue-tie when down the field in Group 3 company at Newmarket (also drawn away from where the action unfolded) before Kaiya Fraser turned a good draw into a bad one by switching to challenge down the centre when tenth of 28 in the Victoria Cup. Ryan Moore takes over and the first-time cheekpieces could help – his yard’s record with turf handicappers in this headgear stands at 15 winners from 58 bets for a profit of £46.28 at SP.

17:00 Wokingham Stakes (Heritage Handicap)

5.35 Ascot – Sahara King (1pt e/w – 6/1 Betfred, 5/1 generally)

The London Gold Cup is likely to have a major bearing on the Golden Gates Stakes at Royal Ascot today and I’m keen to side with Sahara King, a narrow second to Lost Boys (re-opposes today) in that 1m2f Newbury handicap. Richard Hannon’s colt, successful at Wolverhampton on his sole two-year-old outing, wasn’t far behind Derby runner-up in a 1m2f Newbury maiden on April’s comeback before allowing Evanesco too much rope when runner-up at Newmarket. He emerged clear best of those to come from off the pace when going down by a head on his latest start, clocking a fast time in the process, and he was over four lengths clear of Al Azd who went close in the King George V Stakes here on Thursday. The first-time cheekpieces could bring about improvement, as his trainer’s five-year record with this headgear in handicaps stands at five winners from 36 bets for a profit of £64.50 to a £1 level stake at SP. I’ve saved on Lost Boys and will also play him with the selection in the Tote Exacta.
