Royal Ascot Saturday Tips - Day Five Best Bets As Royal Meeting Concludes

Saturday at Royal Ascot features seven races of 12 runners or more, with Group races crowning champions and handicaps to pick one out of 30.

GG tipster Joe Napier has four best bets, siding with two global stars to come good on the big stage.

Royal Ascot Tips (Saturday 20 June)

Although Royal Ascot concludes for another year on Saturday, there is still a terrific card to enjoy. Joe has four tips, including an international raider in the Group 1 sprint.

3.05 Ascot – Goliath (2pt win – 11/2)

2024 King George winner Goliath returns to the scene of his greatest triumph in good form. Francis-Henri Graffard’s charge was second in this race before bolting up in the mid-summer Group 1 that year. He has not always shown his best since, but he is a rare French-trained horse who prefers a quicker surface. He still secured top level honours last year too, in the Grosser Preis Von Baden. Third in the Hong Kong Vase was also respectable and the six-year-old clearly retains his physical faculties. He was a two-length winner last time out at this level at Chantilly and Christophe Soumillon will have options from stall 10 here. This is as strong a race for this level as you will find, but he has proven class.

15:05 Hardwicke Stakes (Group 2)

3.40 Ascot – Satono Reve (1pt win – 4/1)

Second last year, Satono Reve can go one better 12 months on. The Japanese raider was probably unlucky to bump into an inspired Lazzat this time last year. He was three lengths ahead of the third, a big margin over 6f. Lazzat is not present this year, so while there are some talented Australian sprinters of repute here in 2026, they will have to be very talented to beat Satono Reve if he is near his best. Being drawn in stall 18 should be ideal for the seven-year-old and Ryan Moore takes over in the saddle. That has to be a positive and he will be primed to go fast.

15:40 Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes (Group 1)

4.20 Ascot – Colori Forever (0.5pt e/w – 20/1)

Who knows what Saber Strike may be capable of, but there are numerous horses capable for this level. One who is stepping up in class quite substantially is Colori Forever for Marco Botti. He does not represent en vogue connections, but he has looked very promising this season. The son of Bated Breath is two from three this term and defied a 6lb rise for a runner-up effort at Newbury to win comfortably over course and distance last month. Arriving on the scene from last, he won by over two lengths from a runner-up who has won since. The selection was carrying top-weight off a mark of 96, so is surely Group race class. This is obviously a very strong race for the level, but he is going firmly the right way.

16:20 Jersey Stakes (Group 3)

5.35 Ascot – Spyce (1pt e/w – 16/1)

The London Gold Cup form has already been strongly represented. One-two lost Boys and Sahara King are therefore destined to be useful, but fourth-placed Spyce also goes here. Alan King has had a winner this week and his runner defied greenness to chase home the front pair at Newbury. Where those two have gone up 7lb and 6lb respectively, Spyce is off the same mark of 100 here. That is quite a large swing at the weights given he has as much room for improvement, especially the way he behaved in-running. Stall 2 might cause problems for room later on, but will help Rossa Ryan to settle him.

17:35 Golden Gates Stakes (Handicap)
