Salisbury & Southwell Racing Tips - Joe Napier's Lucky 15 Tips for Tuesday 9 June

Salisbury & Southwell Racing Tips - Joe Napier's Lucky 15 Tips for Tuesday 9 June

All five race meetings in the UK and Ireland take place on turf on Tuesday. There is action on the flat and over jumps to follow.

Joe Napier selects our lucky 15 tips for this Tuesday. All four race on the flat, with two apiece from Salisbury and Carlisle.

Salisbury Racing Tips (Tuesday 9 June)

There is a particularly intriguing debutant running at Salisbury on Tuesday, and Joe has included him as a tip among two at the track.

3.48 Salisbury – Le Samourai (1pt win – 5/2)

Bright Summer and Areti set the benchmark with their ratings of 80 and 77 respectively. However, they could easily prove vulnerable to an exciting debutant in Le Samourai. The son of New Bay is a half-brother to Hong Kong sensation Romantic Warrior. That sibling has won 24 of his 31 career starts, while all of Le Samourai’s other four half-siblings have won a race, three of them multiple times. He has already been gelded, but that could explain this relatively belated debut. Ralph Beckett’s yard had a soft ground winner at Goodwood on Sunday. There is hope in the selection’s pedigree that he will cope with conditions. A 450,00gns purchase by Wathnan Racing, he has potential to go very far.

4.53 Salisbury – Rossa Raheen (1pt win – 2/1)

Three-year-olds have dominated this race, winning eight of the last nine runnings. It can therefore pay to look to the bottom of the handicap. Rossa Raheen makes most appeal at the very foot of the weights. Ollie Sangster’s charge showed little in maiden and novice company. However, those efforts were generally in decent company. She immediately improved stepped into handicaps, finishing second by just a neck at Newbury last month. That was in a 14-runner field and she did not get the smoothest passage through. This race is substantially easier and she is only up 1lb in the weights. She ran okay on soft ground on her debut and gets 11lb from main market rival Morven. She was seven lengths adrift of that rival as a juvenile, but conditions look set for that to be reversed.

Carlisle Racing Tips (Tuesday 9 June)

Some of the evening racing action takes place in Cumbria on Tuesday. Joe has two selections at Carlisle as part of our lucky 15 tips.

7.12 Carlisle – Turret (1pt win – 16/1)

Glory Road is a likely maiden winner before going handicapping, but few others in this field look capable, either the debutants, four-year-olds, or twice-raced three-year-olds. As such, a chance is taken on the second-time-out chances of Turret. The Juddmonte runner showed little on his debut at Lingfield last month. However, he ran green from the start from the widest and worst draw. He is likely to have shown hints of ability at home though, as he was backed from 12/1 into 17/2 that day. His breeding is immaculate, as you would expect from his ownership. At some point, this E580,000 will deliver and should have learned plenty from his first away day. Andrew Balding continues to strike at a consistent rate and his charge here should provide some decent value.

7.42 Carlisle – Parisiac (1pt win – 9/1)

Parisiac is on his highest rating for three-and-a-half years, but he is also in tremendous form. The seven-year-old has won at a consistent rate since May of last year, with plenty of other placed efforts. Altogether, he has 11 top three finishes in his last 16 races and won on his return at Hamilton. That was something he had not done since his career debut. As such, there is likely more to come and slow ground suits: his last five starts on soft ground read 13321. A 4lb rise for his Hamilton success can be defied as Jack Nicholls’ 5lb claim can prove useful again.
