1.50 Sandown – Coral Charge (Group 3)
The last four winners of this speedy Group 3 have been aged five, so while he is a year older at six, and potentially still recovering from a long layoff, a swing is taken on MANACCAN given the form he was capable of in his younger days.
John Ryan’s charge twice won at Listed level in 2022, before concluding that year with a cosy Group 3 success at Dundalk when raiding Ireland. Up to May 2023, he was also third in two further races of this level, both of which are much stronger than this.
The 773-day layoff finally ended when he reappeared ambitiously in the Group 1 King Charles III Stakes at Royal Ascot. Although he ultimately faded to be last of 20, he showed up very well that day for a horse who has missed so much racing, only fading out of genuine contention in the final 2f. With that under his belt in a far less competitive contest, he is a lively outsider.
2.25 Sandown – Coral Challenge
Treasure Time has the profile of one who could easily have been plotted for their return, but he might have to go some to beat GREEK ORDER, who was a late drifter in the Royal Hunt Cup before defying that with a bold bid.
The five-year-old was having his first run back after a spell in the USA, but has previous on these shores too, finishing second in the 2023 Cambridgeshire as well as third in Listed company that season. Things did not go to plan in America, but he joined Michael Bell in May and his Ascot run suggested he was up to winning in handicap company.
He is 2lb up for his fourth-placed effort in which he was second only to the impressive and improving winner down the stands side rail. However, that looks a manageable rise given he was facing 29 rivals that day, so as long as there is no bounce factor, he has every chance.

3.00 Sandown – Coral Distaff (Listed)
Blue Bolt has looked very promising the last twice, but she faces no shortage of high-potential opposition here. With the Haggas yard having claimed three runnings of this since 2018, any of his runners immediately catch the eye and SUPERMODEL is therefore advised.
The daughter of Night Of Thunder had been the early market leader for the Sandringham Stakes in which Cajole finished second. However, the selection would have carried 5lb more after an impressive success at Nottingham in which the field got racing very early. Supermodel did well to stick to the task after her early challenge to come home on top.
That the yard now pitch her in up to Listed level after being a non-runner at Royal Ascot speaks to their faith in her and she should be capable of contention.
3.35 Sandown – Coral Eclipse (Group 1)
The Classic generation have dominated this race in recent seasons, but while there are two Classic winners in their ranks, none of the three-year-old quartet entirely convince for the purposes of this race. As a result, they may have to give best this term to OMBUDSMAN, who looks right out of the top drawer.
John & Thady Gosden’s star did not see a racecourse at two and was quietly campaigned at three, albeit going through 2024 unbeaten, including in Group 3 company by the end of the season. He re-emerged when second in the Brigadier Gerard Stakes over course and distance, but that in itself was solid enough form and he has since risen to new heights.
He was a brilliant winner of the Group 1 Prince Of Wales’s Stakes at Royal Ascot in his first race at the top level. Overcoming trouble in running, he blitzed past his rivals in the closing stages for a two-length success and this race now looks his to lose if not coming too soon.
