2025 Shloer Chase Racecard
Jonbon will be a warm order in the betting for the Shloer Chase on Friday and the multiple Graded winner has shown that he is the premier two-mile chaser on British soil in recent times. He’s been unable to claim that elusive Cheltenham Festival victory, but outside of the festival he’s been a winning machine and he will be the one they all have to beat here. L’eau Du Sud was a top novice chaser last season for Dan Skelton, but failed to fire in the Arkle, so is looking to bounce back from that here. Libberty Hunter was hugely progressive last season, but was a faller in the Queen Mother Champion Chase. Edwardstone is a top notch performer on his day, but isn’t getting any younger, while Matata, Brookie and Haddex Des Obeaux complete the line-up.

JONBON at Cheltenham in March is a red flag and worth taking on, but Jonbon in mediocre Grade 2 races is a certainly a green one. Much the best of these at his best, Jonbon should be able to kick off his campaign with a win and then go on to try and maintain an unbeaten record before trying to finally land his first Champion Chase crown in the spring. L’eau Du Sud should be able to edge out Libberty Hunter for second place, while the veteran Edwardstone could look to pick up the pieces and is the most likely third placed finisher.
