Southwell Racing Tips — ITV Racing Friday Night Live Tips for February 20

Southwell host the latest ITV Racing Friday Night Live on Friday 20 February, as seven races take place in front of the terrestrial TV camers. However, the evening is all about one horse and that is Constitution Hill. Can the Champion Hurdle-bound dual Cheltenham Festival winner claim victory in the 7.30pm race?

Our tipster Steve Chambers has already previews the 7.30pm Southwell contest, so veers away from that race and picks out his alternative bets on the card.

Southwell Racing Tips (Friday 20 February 2026)

There are nine races taking place at Southwell on Friday night, but we focus on the live ITV racing and have three tips for the all-weather action.

5.30 Southwell – Something (1pt win – 6/1)

James Fanshawe’s Wonder looks the one to beat in the 5.30pm contest, but drawn 11 he could face some traffic issues during the 1m 4f 14y contest. The one to take him on with is the Stuart Williams-trained Something, who comes from stall three. The five-year-old appeared to recapture his form last time out when second at Kempton. He’s been given a 1lb rise, but he’s back to a mark of 75, which is the figure he last won off. This is a competitive contest, but with Jack Dace taking off 5lbs then he looks a leading player.

6.00 Southwell – Mart (1pt win – 8/1)

Dylan Cunha’s Mart was a huge disappointment six days ago when fourth of seven at Lingfield, but if he can replicate his run from starts ago, where he finished second at Lingfield then he can land the 6.00pm event. He takes his chance off 68, which is 2lbs lower than his last winning mark, so that’s a huge positive. Plenty line up with a notable chance in this contest, but Cunha’s charge could be the value. This looks an easier task on paper, and the near double-figured odds make appeal.

8.00 Southwell – Cuban Grey (1pt win – 12/1)

A former handicap winner at the Curragh, Cuban Grey will venture over to British shores for the penultimate race of the evening at 8pm. Last seen on this soil finishing down the field in a red-hot York handicap, the six-year-old can improve here. He had a pipe opener at Dundalk two weeks ago, but he certainly needed the run there. Only 4lbs higher than his last winning mark, he showed when winning three times last season that he can deliver the goods. He will need to improve significantly from his Dundalk spin, but he’s certainly likely to. A wide open betting heat means he’s superb value in a competitive 5f sprint.
