Five meetings are scheduled for Thursday, with the flat and jumps in full swing in Britain and Ireland. Whichever code you are most a fan of, there is plenty of racing to enjoy on the day.
GG tipster Joe Napier has scanned through the cards for our lucky 15 tips on Thursday. He has selections from Southwell and Warwick for you to follow.
Southwell Racing Tips (Thursday 26 March)
Seven races will be contested at Southwell on Thursday, as two class 6 races contain our best bets.
3.07 Southwell – Sold Out (1pt win – )
Billy Loughnane is an eyecatching booking for Sold Out in this classified stakes. John Mackie’s charge won on his second start at this level at Newcastle in February. That win backed up a close fourth at Wolverhampton in his first classified event. He has since struggled back up in handicaps, while he faded late on back at Wolverhampton most recently. However, Loughnane takes over in the saddle hungry for winners after a fine start to the year. He is still atop this field on ratings and may well bounce back.
4.07 Southwell – Maximum Velocity (1pt win – )
Nigel Tinkler’s Maximum Velocity did not reach such speed on his three starts as a juvenile. However, he showed much more speak on his return at Newcastle earlier this month. Off this same mark of 57, he was a close third of 12 despite racing extremely keenly throughout under Rowan Scott. Given he had not raced for 204 days, he may have been too fresh. He saw out 7f relatively well in the circumstances, and if able to race in a more relaxed fashion, he can get off the mark.
Warwick Racing Tips (Thursday 26 March)
Warwick’s six-race card on Thursday includes the Challenger Staying Chase Series Final. We have two top tips at the track, with one running in the feature.
3.28 Warwick – Claim Du Brizais (1pt win – )
Harry Skelton gets back aboard Claim Du Brizais in this novices’ handicap chase. She has been bitterly disappointing since winning a bumper and novice hurdle last year. That said, she may be ready for a step back up in trip, as there were surely excuses for her one effort over 2m4f under rules. She has dropped to a very plausible mark for a horse who was runner-up in a point-to-point. With Skelton back in the saddle, we should see considerable improvement.
4.30 Warwick – New Order (1pt win – 10/3)
Although this is a class 2 event, the level of opposition is easier than New Order has faced all season. He has been a frustrating follow this term, but extremely consistent too. After needing the run on his return, he was a close second at Sandown and Doncaster either side of a two-length third at Cheltenham. The eight-year-old is forgiven finishing last of three finishers in the Grimthorpe at Doncaster last time out. That race was turned on its head by the front-runner setting a furious gallop on soft ground. Down 1lb in the handicap and back on better going, he can earn a well-deserved victory.
