Andrew Mount’s best bets for Monday were called off due to Wolverhampton’s abandonment, but with Tuesday’s meetings looking positive at both Wolverhampton and Southwell, racing fans can hope for some winning bets to begin the racing week a day late.
Andrew has two selections from Wolverhampton during the afternoon, as well as one at Southwell in the evening, for you to follow below.
Wolverhampton Racing Tips (Tuesday 6 January 2026)
Wolverhampton’s card features nine races on the all-weather on Tuesday afternoon, with one of Andrew’s selections running in one of the two feature class 4 handicaps.
3.45 Wolverhampton – Follow You Heart (4/1 bet365)
There’s not a great deal of early pace on offer in this 7f Class 4 handicap, with Grabajabba likely to take them along early from stall 1. However, Mick Appeleby’s five-year-old entire has yet to win above Class 5 level and has never won a handicap. Follow Your Heart is likely to stalk the pace from stall 2 and he looks the bet. Mark Loughnane’s veteran has form figures over course and distance below Class 3 level of 2211715211 (5-10) for a profit of £16.58 to a £1 level stake at SP, with the seventh place excusable as he was drawn out wide and the fifth place on account of missing the break.
4.15 Wolverhampton – Bashful Boy (1pt win – 11/4 bet365)
Bashful Boy hasn’t had many opportunities on Tapeta despite his veteran status and, though he had no chance with three-length winner Sax Appeal at Southwell on his latest outing, he pulled six and a half lengths clear of the third – good yardstick Dance Time. That effort was backed up by the clock – he’s well clear on last time out speed according to Proform’s ratings – and can go one better.
Southwell Racing Tips (Tuesday 6 January 2026)
Southwell’s card for Tuesday evening also sees nine races slated to take place, with Andrew’s tip running in the opening contest.
4.30 Southwell – Havechatma (1pt win – 10/1 bet365)
Havechatma disappointed when we bet her over course and distance last month, finishing tenth of the 13 runners but she had excuses. Dean Ivory’s mare was reluctant to load that day, pulled hard under restraint and met trouble repeatedly when making her effort. The six-year-old can usually be relied upon to run her race at this venue, recording form figures of 611141310 (5-9) and is worth another chance.
