He gives three selections for Thursday’s racing and focuses on Lingfield’s all-weather card that kicks off at 11:45am.

12:45 Lingfield – ENPASSANT (1pt win – 9/2 generally)
ENPASSANT has been knocking on the door of late and has relished the switch to the all-weather from the turf and the James Fanshawe-trained son of Starspangledbanner can finally break his maiden tag at the ninth time of asking in this competitive-looking 7f 1y handicap.
A brace of second placed finishes at Newcastle and Lingfield were followed up by a third placed finish last time out at Newcastle in early December and he runs off the same mark of 73 in this contest. He is vastly experienced in comparison to some of his rivals lining up here, which is certainly a bonus, and if he can just find a little more in this contest then he should land the prize.
The last-time-out winner The Ferret and Novation are two notable adversaries that have to be considered major dangers, but Enpassant can finally get his time in the limelight and get his head in front for a first time in his career.
1:45 Lingfield – COVERT MISSION (1pt win – 13/2 generally)
Kevin Philippart De Foy’s COVERT MISSION was given a well deserved break after a lacklustre effort at Chelmsford back in August, but the Lingfield course-and-distance winner can return to the scene of his two most recent victories and claim another success in the 1m 1y contest at 1:45.
The six-year-old recorded a win on the all-weather at Lingfield back in April, while he followed up on the turf at the same venue in July off to show his love for the racecourse. He had a pretty busy campaign during the summer months, so he may have just come to the end of his tether when disappointing on his last start at Chelmsford.
Now back to try and kick off 2024 with a win, Covert Mission has been dropped to a mark of 69 – which is 1lb lower than his last winning mark on the all-weather, so if he can get a lead out in front in the early stages then he could be tough to reel in in the closing stages.
2:15 Lingfield – PINK LILY (1pt win – 7/2 with bet365)
PINK LILY is a filly that has been flourishing for Richard Hannon when lining up on the all-weather and she is looking for a third career success on the Tapeta at Lingfield on Thursday and she looks the one to beat in the 2:15 race.
Both wins at the track have come over 1m 2f, and it’s that distance she lines up off in this event and she’s only 2lbs higher than her last success, which a few weeks ago. That victory off a mark of 59 saw her comfortably taste victory by a length and the daughter of Sixties Icon looks more than capable of continuing her winning ways off 61.
Both her wins at Lingfield have come in Class 6 company, so a step back into the Class 5 sphere will give her more to contend with, but she continues to blossom on the surface and the Hannon-trained raider has the potential to deal with the step up and is a solid punting option.
