There’s a spectacular day’s racing at Ascot on Saturday afternoon with the King George being the showpiece race of the day at the Berkshire track. We are set for a hugely competitive card and the Tote Placepot is likely to be a tough task for punters, so we try and point you in the right direction of the placed horses.
If you’re new to the Tote, you can get £50 in Bonuses when you sign up using the link below and place a £10 bet.

Leg 1: 1.15pm – British EBF Crocker Bulteel ‘Confined’ Maiden Stakes
Leg 1 Selections: (1) Al Misbar
A trappy opener for Placepot punters as a maiden stakes over six furlongs kicks off the card. It’s certainly a race where the betting should help guide you in the right direction, but Al Misbar is an attractively bred colt out of Blue Point and the Charlie Appleby-trained two-year-old will prove very popular. James Fanshawe’s Back In Black has racecourse experience having finished second on debut, but Al Misbar could prove to be the class act of the race for Godolphin.
Leg 2: 1.50pm – Sodexo Live! Princess Margaret Stakes
Leg 2 Selections: (6) Mandurah
Second in the Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot, Ollie Sangster’s Simmering is entitled to be a warm order for the Princess Margaret Stakes, but she could be worth taking on with Simon & Ed Crisford’s Mandurah, who is one from one on the track. An impressive half-a-length winner of a novice stakes at Newmarket, the Kingman filly will need to improve on that effort significantly, but she won cosily that day and suggested she could be every bit a Group performer and could down the Sangster raider.
Leg 3: 2.25pm – Longines Valiant Stakes
Leg 3 Selections: (7) Friendly Soul
Hugely impressive when storming to victory in the Listed Pretty Polly Stakes at Newmarket back in May, Friendly Soul was then sent off a red-hot odds-on favourite for the Musidora Stakes at York, but John & Thady Gosden’s daughter of Kingman ran no race whatsoever and trailed home in last position. She is now on the comeback mission in the Valiant Stakes at 2.25 and if the Gosden team can get her back to her best then she has to be a huge runner here. Devoted Queen is another daughter of Kingman and is unbeaten in all three starts and is the biggest danger, but Friendly Soul is still an exciting prospect and is the selection in a cracking race.

Leg 4: 3.00pm – Moet & Chandon International Stakes
Leg 4 Selections: (3) Orazio, (7) Bless Him
There’s a relatively small field going to post for the Moet & Chandon International Stakes at 3.00pm with only 18 going to the 7f start, but it’s still a real puzzle for punters heading to Berkshire. So, it’s probably worth opting for two selections to try and make it through leg 4 of the Tote Placepot. The first one to side with is Orazio, who was last seen finishing a superb third in the Wokingham Stakes over course and distnace at Royal Ascot and off a 3lb higher mark looks destined for another placed finish here. Second in this race two years ago, Bless Him may be 10 years old now, but he still shines in this sort of event and he’s sure to be doing all his best work in the closing stages and he can hit the frame.
Leg 5: 3.40pm – King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Qipco Stakes
Leg 5 Selections: (1) Auguste Rodin
Aidan O’Brien’s Auguste Rodin can add another notable Group 1 prize to his impressive CV, as the 2023 Derby winner can rocket to victory in the King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Qipco Stakes, which is the feature race of the day. Last seen claiming victory in the Prince Of Wales’s Stakes at Royal Ascot, the four-year-old continues to show he is one of the star middle distance performers in training and he can prove to be a cut above his rivals in this event.
Leg 6: 4.15pm – Flexjet Pat Eddery Stakes
Leg 6 Selections: (1) Al Qudra
Five go to post for the final leg of the Tote Placepot and Charlie Appleby’s Al Qudra will be looking to use a recent fifth in the Coventry Stakes as a stepping stone to victory here. This is certainly much easier and he wasn’t beaten far in that Group 2 race at the Royal meeting, so has to be regarded a leading contender for this event. Chancellor was eye-catching on debut and is a major rival, while New Century is another that has to warrant respect, but Al Qudra could just be a level above his rivals here.
