The Tote Placepot could be taken on across loads of different meetings on Saturday. We turn to Newmarket, whose Placepot goes through their six-race card on the day, to come up with our selections.

Leg 1: 1.55pm
Leg 1 Selections: (9) Secret Of Love, (10) Suhub
This maiden for unraced fillies could hardly have attracted more powerhouse names in terms of trainers and ownership. Aidan O’Brien and Ballydoyle even have an entrant from Ireland, while the Gosdens and Ralph Beckett represent Juddmonte and Charlie Appleby has declared a Godolphin challenger.
With no form and pure breeding and reputation to go on, two advised against the field for Placepot purposes are SUHUB and SECRET OF LOVE. The former may be the best-bred of the dozen hopefuls, being out of a Group 1 winner in Nazeef and by star miler Mohaather. William Haggas and Shadwell Estate will be hopeful she’s useful while Secret Of Love may be a slightly bigger price for Andrew Balding, but her dam won on debut, she will likely get this trip early enough, and bears a similarly powerful mark in the colours of Kirsten Rausing.
Leg 2: 2.30pm
Leg 2 Selections: (3) Ruff Justice
A few of these arrive for their nursery debuts appearing to be overly penalised by the handicapper. One for whom that cannot be said is RUFF JUSTICE, one of only two in this line-up to have actually won, and he has now done so twice.
He was well on top at the finish at Windsor when scoring a little under three weeks ago, which bodes well to him staying the extra furlong here. He is up 6lb in a slightly better race, but finding that winning thread early, as he has done, gives him a good chance of maintaining his form.
Leg 3: 3.05pm
Leg 3 Selections: (9) Fifty Nifty
The two least exposed runners hold sway here, and preference of those is for the bottom-weight FIFTY NIFTY, who looks to have greater room for manoeuvre off a mark of 87. The rating of 95 given to Bobby Benny looks on the steep side, whereas the selection has been eased 1lb despite leading home his group when fourth over 1m here last time out.
That looks generous, especially as he led with a furlong to go, but that furlong is removed here as he drops to a 7f trip. Having previously shown distinct promise when easily winning his maiden then a close fight in a high quality novice event under a penalty, there could be more to come if this proves his optimum distance.

Leg 4: 3.40pm
Leg 4 Selections: (7) Mountain Breeze
Charlie Appleby has had six winners from his last 11 runners in the UK, and eight from 14 including his success in Saratoga. Just as the yard are firing, so is the form of MOUNTAIN BREEZE’s runner-up effort in Newmarket’s 6f Group 2 Duke Of Cambridge Stakes.
Third-placed Heavens Gate scooped a big prize at Naas subsequently, beating ninth-placed Fiery Lucy into second, and the selection, who had previously been fourth at Royal Ascot too, is a three-parts sister to the sensational Pinatubo. As a result, she could still be improving as he did later into his two-year-old season, and that also bodes well for her being even better over 7f here.
Leg 5: 4.15pm
Leg 5 Selections: (6) Mercury Day
Mount Teide looks to have the most scope for improvement given the races he has contested to date, but he was held easily enough off this mark last time out. The most interesting one is MERCURY DAY, who was a no-show at Goodwood, but had previously been progressing nicely.
Switched to Conrad Allen from Ralph Beckett, she made a fine start to the season, winning a maiden at Nottingham before cruising to success as the outsider of five over course and distance at the end of June. She beat some well-regarded types that day and was weak in the betting at Goodwood last time. If a bit stronger in the market this time, a return to winning ways is well within range.
Leg 6: 4.50pm
Leg 6 Selections: (7) Galactic Charm
He may be winless thus far in his career, but a victory is close enough for GALACTIC CHARM. He was placed on his first four starts, all in novice company and one or two of which came against notably strong opposition.
His only run previously over this trip came on heavy ground at Ripon, which would not have suited, but his pedigree suggests 1m4f or even further should suit. He has been beaten only a cumulative 4 ¼ lengths across his last three starts despite racing awkwardly, so hopefully there is more in the tank.
