The Midlands National is the perfect pick-me-up for fans mourning the end of another Cheltenham Festival. Uttoxeter and Kempton go to post for racing on ITV.

Uttoxeter Racing Tips (Saturday 14 March)
Uttoxeter’s meeting on Saturday features its big race, the Midlands Grand National. In that race, and one other, Joe has two top tips.
1.50 Uttoxeter – It’s Top (1pt win – 13/2)
The opener at Uttoxeter can go the way of It’s Top from lower down the weights. Oliver Signy’s charge enters handicap company after two decent efforts in novice company. First time out, he was ridden to pick up the pieces behind Supreme runner-up Sober Glory. He and Gavin Sheehan did that capably, then won at Carlisle at odds-on. Soft ground would be a slight worry, but the step up in distance looks a positive for a horse who sees out 2m well. As a bumper and novice hurdle winner, his mark is fair enough to contend.
3.00 Uttoxeter – J’Arrive De L’Est (1pt win – 3/1)
J’Arrive De L’Est’s form since joining Emmet Mullins has been stellar in cross country races. Despite lacking fluency in those contests at Cheltenham, he has been second twice. The winners of this season’s cross country handicaps this term went on to finish first and second in the Festival equivalent, so the selection could barely have run much better. He is unproven in traditional chases, which is a negative for him. However, he is definitely ahead of his mark of 126 under the correct conditions. He has also shaped as if running over further than 3m6f could be of benefit too.
Kempton Racing Tips (Saturday 14 March)
Kempton’s card hosts seven races, including class 2 handicap action. In the two highest grade contests are Jo’s two best Kempton bets for Saturday.
2.40 Kempton – Double Powerful (1pt win – 6/1)
After falling and unseating over fences, Double Powerful has been brought back to form over hurdles. He also unseated on his first start back over timber, but was then second in Kempton’s Lanzarote Hurdle behind an impressive winner. Stepped up to 3m, he could finish only fifth at Musselburgh. However, the handicapper has dropped him back down 2lb to the same rating as two starts ago. Running over the same course and distance as that runner-up finish, he should be involved.
3.18 Kempton – Blueking d’Oroux (1pt win – 7/1)
Blueking d’Oroux is yet to show his best over fences, but Paul Nicholls’ runner is too well rated to ignore. A Grade 2 winner over hurdles, beating Kitzbuhel and Salver at Sandown last season, he also became a Grade 2-winning novice chaser at Wincanton in November. That was a poor race for the level, and he was put in his place in the Kauto Star Novices’ Chase thereafter. He has been freshened up since though and is rated just 141 for his handicap chase debut. That is 10lb below his hurdles mark, off which he would likely be competitive. First-time cheekpieces could help bring out more too.
