Only three horse racing fixtures take place on Tuesday 9 December, with Ayr being forced to abandon their National Hunt card. The GG Lucky 15 tips for the day come from the remaining two jumps fixtures at Uttoxeter & Punchestown.
Tuesday’s cards are pretty low-key with little in the way of quality taking their chance, but there should still be a few competitive races across the afternoon, so check out who we fancy for the day.
Uttoxeter Racing Tips (Tuesday 9 December 2025)
There are four hurdle races and a brace of chase events during Uttoxeter’s six-race card and we pick out two selections on the card.
1.30 Uttoxeter – Carismatic Soldier (1pt win – 6/5)
Olly Murphy’s Carismatic Soldier has failed to build on a Chepstow win back in January, but he made a pleasing return after a lengthy layoff when third at Wetherby last month. Staying on eye-catchingly well that day, the six-year-old will relish the step up in distance to near three miles for the 1.30pm Uttoxeter contest, and could prove to be a cut above his rivals. He’s been given a 1lb rise by the handicapper, so takes his chance off 114 here, but with Lewis Saunders taking a valuable 3lbs off his back then he’s extremely well handicapped to go very close.
3.00 Uttoxeter – Hara Kari (1pt win – 11/4)
Railway Bell is a fascinating runner in the 3.00pm contest, but Fergal O’Brien’s charge has had a year off the track, so is worth taking on with another from the Olly Murphy charge in the shape of Hara Kiri. This time the Murphy runner will be ridden by champion jockey Sean Bowen, and this hugely consistent eight-year-old has been in the form of his life in recent times winning three of his last five outings. He has been defeated on his last to starts, but was placed in those efforts, so he lost nothing defeat. He drops down to class 4 for Tuesday’s event which should be enough for him to return to winning ways.
Punchestown Racing Tips (Tuesday 9 December 2025)
It’s a really early start at Punchestown with the first of their eight races starting at 11.50am, with the card going right through until 3.23pm. Check out our brace of tips to complete Tuesday’s Lucky 15 selections.
1.20 Punchestown – Neon Diamond (1pt win – 10/1)
Henry De Bromhead’s Echoing Silence has looked hugely impressive during her two wins on the track, but she’s awfully short for the 1.20pm at Punchestown, and there could be some value elsewhere. The one that stands out in this listed event that could cause an upset is Gordon Elliott’s Neon Diamond, who is available at double-figured odds, at the time of writing. A facile nine-length winner at Killarney two starts ago, she than ran no sort of race when last of four at Downpatrick in August, but she’s been freshened up in that time, and can bounce back here. She will need to replicate that Killarney run, but the Elliott yard are beginning to fire in the winners with notable regularity, so she has to be considered.
2.20 Punchestown – Charlus (1pt win – 9/2)
Willie Mullins will unleash a three-pronged attack on the 2.20pm race and you have to respect the choice of stable jockey and he’s opted to side with Charlus, who returns to the jumping sphere after a spin on the level. 12th beyond stablemate Poniros in the Triumph Hurdle, he was also seen finishing way down the field in the Ebor Handicap at York a few months ago, so has some big field experience. This is sure to be much calmer waters and whilst he failed to sparkle at Leopardstown last time out on the flat, he could enjoy the switch to obstacles and he could be much the best of this field going forward.
