Step Ahead showed heaps of ability in two runs for Don Cantillon, finding only French Ship (now rated 146) too good in a junior bumper at Haydock in May of last year before his 10-1 third of 14 in a Listed bumper at Ascot where two lengths behind runner-up Moneygarrow, today’s 7-4 favourite. The switch to the in-form yard of Kim Bailey and Mat Nicholls (six winners from 13 runners in the past fortnight) is likely to bring improvement and he looks value to defy the 356-day absence.
Chelmsford Racing Tips (Thursday 11 December 2025)
Chelmsford hosts a packed eight-race card on Thursday evening, with both of Andrew’s best bets there running in the same race at 6.30.

Ridden along on turning in, he became outpaced before plugging on again and should be suited by the step up to today’s 1m2f trip, as well as the drop in grade to Class 5 restricted novice company.
I want to save on Gatehouse who was backed from the overnight 16-1 into 5-2 second favouritism when splitting the aforementioned Knight Of Glory and Room Fourteen at Lingfield on his recent debut.
