The second January in Saturday is full of meetings hosting top quality racing, pending the weather outcomes in Britain & Ireland.
Andrew Mount has picked out five best bets across the cards, with four at the jumps meetings at Kempton and Warwick, as well as one on the all-weather at Lingfield.
Warwick Racing Tips (Saturday 10 January 2026)
Warwick’s card features multiple Graded races, within one of which Andrew has a selection, as well as two others at the meeting.
12.45 Warwick – Yield To Call (0.5pt e/w – 14/ bet365, Paddy Power)
Yield To Call has shown considerable promise in her three starts to date, finishing fourth in a soft-ground Newbury bumper in December 2024, fourth in a fast-ground Chepstow bumper on her reappearance in mid-October before her hurdles debut 33-1 fourth of ten over today’s track and trip (good to soft). That experience would have been needed and it’s interesting to note the subsequent wind operation. Jane Williams has yet to give wind surgery to one of her runners since training in her own right but the score when training in conjunction with ex-husband Nick Williams was two from nine, with the wins at 16-1 and 10-1.
1.15 Warwick – Pepe Le Moko (1pt win – 13/2 Coral, 6/1 generally)
The form of Pepe Le Moko’s narrow Ludlow defeat to Followcato was franked when that one scored at Exeter on Friday and the pair pulled nine lengths clear of the third that day. Jane Williams’ eight-year-old won at Kempton in the corresponding week in 2024 and his only other victory came over today’s course and distance. He has a lot of weight to carry but his prominent running style will be an asset and he’s worth a bet to go one better.
1.52 Warwick – Hollygrove Cha Cha (1pt win – 12/1 generally)
Cases can be made for both Weade Out and Moon Rocket in this 3m Grade 2 novices’ chase but their chances are well covered by odds of 2-1 and 5-2 respectively and the value lies with Hollygrove Cha Cha at a double-figure price. Jamie Snowden’s six-year-old mare tends to jump out to her left and, after two chase runs on right-handed tracks, she looks set to improve for a change of direction. The first of those runs produced a close-up third behind Resplendent Grey and Handstands at Carlisle and the other resulted in an odds-on victory in a three-runner contest at Exeter. Her record left-handed reads 111P (3-4), with the non-completion at the Cheltenham festival.
Kempton Racing Tips (Saturday 10 January 2026)
Kempton’s opening highlight of 2026 is the Lanzarote Hurdle, a 17-runner handicap in which Andrew has an each-way fancy.
3.17 Kempton – King Of The Lake (0.5pt e/w – 22/1 bet365, BetVictor, Ladbrokes)
Six of the last ten winners of the Lanzarote Handicap Hurdle were ridden by conditional jockeys who claimed at least a 3lb allowance (+£89.25 to a £1 level stake at SP) and King Of The Lake, the mount of Chad Bament (claiming 7lb), looks set to go well in this year’s renewal. Jeremy Scott’s eight-year-old, like most of his trainer’s runners, needed his comeback outing this term when third of six at Newton Abbot in late October and he also looked in need of his Windsor fourth the following month. The son of Kayf Tara bounced back with a 14-1 Wincanton win under Bament just after Christmas, just getting the better of 11-4 favourite Royal Rambler after a sustained duel with the pair pulling nine lengths clear of the third. His record in the past 12 months – since his latest bout of wind surgery – stands at 111341 (4-6) and he looks over-priced.
Lingfield Racing Tips (Saturday 10 January 2026)
With the jumps meetings in some doubt due to the weather, Lingfield’s trusty all-weather surface looks almost guaranteed to host racing on the day. Andrew’s selection at the track comes in the final race of the day.
3.38 Lingfield – Charlie’s Choice (1.5pt win – 9/4 bet365)
Charlie’s Choice did this column a favour when scoring over course and distance last week (SP 6-1) and is taken to follow up. My theory with David Simcock’s six-year-old is that he’s trying to win the January AW bonus and his record in this month stands at 11411 (4-5) with excuses for the defeat. He was well on top at the line on his latest start and while the early pace might not be as strong this time, he’s still going to be hard to beat.
