Warwick Racing Tips (Thursday 23 April)
Two Challenger Series finals take place at Warwick on Thursday. Our lucky 15 tips at the track run in both of those contests.
3.00 Warwick – Theonewedreamof (1pt win – 9/2)
The last three runs from Theonewedreamof have broadly been disappointing, but conditions look favourable here. Her early-season form was good, seeing her finish second on debut for Dan Skelton to begin her campaign. She followed that up with a win at Exeter, her last start over 3m on good ground. Despite dropping in trip, she was then a half-length second in a 15-runner handicap at Cheltenham in December. She is 4lb better off with the winner that day, Party Vibes, here, and there are enough excuses for her efforts since. She is also 1lb lower in the ratings than for that Cheltenham run. As such, like her yard, she can finish the season in celebration.
3.30 Warwick – Greyval (1pt win – 14/1)
In first-time cheekpieces, Greyval can return to the winners’ enclosure. The presence of stablemate Siog Geal at the top of the weights serves to ensure the selection is just a little further down the handicap here. Equally, the two mares have comparable chances on form. Jonathan Burke opts to ride Greyval though, which emphasises her chances more strongly. The seven-year-old’s last win came at this time last year and, like Theonwedreamof, conditions have rarely aligned perfectly for her since. Her best effort came when a close fifth in an open handicap at Chepstow in October. That was her last run over around 2m4f over hurdles with good in the going description. She is now 7lb lower and back on her last winning mark, so a bounce back is in the offing.
Perth Racing Tips (Thursday 23 April)
Perth’s big meeting of the season continues onto Thursday. Our two tips run in class 2 and class 3 company on the card.
3.10 Perth – Inox Allen (1pt win – 8/1)
It is worth giving a chance to Inox Allen, who has no chance on this season’s form. However, similar could have been said before he won a course and distance novice handicap 12 months ago. He arrived this time last season winless in five off the back of to seventh-laced finishes. His form this term is similar, reading P87 since October. Those runs have served to drop him 7lb in the handicap though, so he is only 4lb higher now than for his 11-length win on this card in 2025. Should he be able to maintain his lead from the outset, a big run could be forthcoming.
3.40 Perth – American Mike (1pt win – 11/4)
The handicapper has gone easy on American Mike after two runs over hurdles. His form since joining Olly Murphy remains comparable enough to that under Gordon Elliott’s tutelage. His third on debut for Murphy at Newbury was a very solid run off 147, after which he had wind surgery. A disappointment on soft ground at Chepstow back over hurdles was followed by a much better run at Wetherby. That second on good ground over 3m was enough of a step in the right direction to suggest coming back over fences over a slightly shorter trip can be the move that gets him winning again. His higher chase mark is not a concern, as he is still 5lb lower than on reappearance.
