Windsor Racing Tips - Winter Million Day 3 Best Bets on Sunday 18 January

The third and final day of the Winter Million series takes place at Windsor on Sunday as the top-class racing in Berkshire concludes with another quality card.

GG tipster Joe Napier has scoured the cards and come up with four best bets across the meeting, including two each-way selections at decent prices.

Windsor Racing Tips (Sunday 18 January 2026)

Windsor hosts day three of the Winter Million meeting with the Fluer De Lys Chase the headline contest at 3pm. We have a top tip in that race against the favourite, as well as three others on the card.

1.20 Windsor – Jeriko Du Reponet (0.5pt e/w – 15/2)

He may again improve as the season goes on, or for handicap company, but Jeriko Du Reponet has shaped with promise in defeat on both chase starts so far this season and the step up to 3m might unlock significantly more than he has shown over the larger obstacles so far. The extra distance proved the making of him last season too, as he finished second in the Pertemps Final before winning at Punchestown, proving that he is still capable of very high-class form. His jumping has stood the test this term where it didn’t on his chase debut last season and he may be able to fulfil the promise of his point-to-point success in March 2023.

1.50 Windsor – Highlands Legacy (1pt win – 4/1)

He has been frustrating to follow the last twice with narrow defeats, but Highlands Legacy has finished second to two useful rivals and may yet defy his gradual rise up the weights over fences this season. The seven-year-old failed to win in handicap company over hurdles last term, but he regularly featured in decent races, while he won on his chase debut at Worcester off an opening fencing mark of 115 in October. He then only narrowly failed to give 1lb to subsequent Grade 2 winner Mambonumberfive before a late mistake ensured he could not get past Mighty Bandit at Newbury last month. Overall, his chasing career has seen him move up a level compared to his hurdles form and further progression is likely.

2.25 Windsor – Lord Snootie (0.5pt e/w – 14/1)

A chance is worth taking on Lord Snootie, who returned from well over a year off the track at Ascot last month and for whom conditions are more or less ideal here. Christian Williams’ hurdler is a thorough stayer, winning over 3m2f on soft at Warwick in December 2022 and often running well over 3m two seasons ago, finishing second at Haydock off 122 in February 2024, then second again off 3lb higher at Aintree’s Grand National meeting behind future Grade 2 winner Gwennie May Boy. His absences since have given him little time to find fitness and it may be that he needs at least one more run if he is to discover his best, but if his Ascot run has blown away the cobwebs, he is treated to run well once again.

14:25 Weatherbys Racing Bank Handicap Hurdle (GBB Race)

3.00 Windsor – Matata (1pt win – 9/2)

The race conditions are skewed strongly in Protektorat’s favour, but he is now 11 years old and maybe more of a stayer nowadays anyway. He also faces an in-form rival in Matata, who made very light work of a Grade 3 handicap at Cheltenham on New Year’s Day off a mark of 154 and won on this card 12 months ago too. He was a ten-length winner off top-weight over 2m back then, but won a point over 3m and it was the step up to 2m4f last time out that looked to renew his high-class level of form after struggling over 2m earlier this season. This further step up to 2m6f does pose a question, but he likes it here and is worth taking on the favourite with.
