Wednesday’s racing is all about the flat in Britain, with all four meetings taking place on the level. There is an even split between two turf and all-weather cards each.
Andrew has one from each surface to follow on Wednesday afternoon. HIs best bets run at Wolverhampton and Catterick.
Wolverhampton Racing Tips (Wednesday 26 August 2026)
Andrew targets a contest at Wolverhampton for horses yet to win in 2026. His tip was a big eyecatcher at the track in the past.
3.00 Wolverhampton – Night Mission (1pt win – 9/2)
Night Mission didn’t live up to market expectations when making his debut for Mick Appleby at Nottingham last month, finishing fourth of the seven runners after being sent off as the 2-1 second favourite. However, he wasn’t helped by a slow start and racing on the ‘dead’ near side rail on a day the centre/far side looked best on the spring course. The three-year-old was a big eyecatcher when seventh at Wolverhampton on his final outing for Mark Rimell and the return to Dunstall Park could suit. His trainer has a good record at the second time of asking with horses he takes over from other yards, with those who showed promise without winning on their stable debuts (finishing second, third or fourth) landing 24 of their 90 starts since racing resumed after COVID in the summer of 2020 for a profit of £9.90 at SP (+£25.74 at Betfair SP after 2% commission, expected wins = 17.71, A/E = 1.35).
Catterick Racing Tips (Wednesday 26 August 2026)
Andrew’s second selection runs at Catterick’s six-race card, with his selection contesting the penultimate heat.
4.15 Catterick – Canon’s House (1pt win – 10/1 bet365)
Canon’s House has mostly struggled this season – he could only finish seventh of 11 when a 4-1 chance at Hamilton five days ago – but with Mick and David Easterby’s sprinters running well, the five-year-old looks worth another chance now dropping in class. That Hamilton race was a Class 3 affair and he’ll by happier down a level. His sprint handicap record in Class 4 or lower company stands at 7791112 (3-7), with the latest defeat by a head, and he’s well drawn in stall 2.
