The jumps meetings have fallen by the wayside on Friday, leaving three all-weather cards in Britain and Ireland. Artificial surfaces at Wolverhampton, Newcastle and Dundalk have saved the day.
It is the first two tracks that Andrew Mount looks to for his Friday best bets. Our top tipster has three of them in total.
Wolverhampton Racing Tips (Friday 6 February 2026)
Wolverhampton’s card features eight races on Friday. The feature is a class 2 0-105 handicap, and Andrew Mount picks a selection in that contest, and one other, on Friday afternoon.
3.17 Wolverhampton – Bad Habits (0.5pt e/w – 14/1 bet365, 12/1 generally)
Poke The Bear, currently trading as the 5-2 favourite, arrives here on a hat-trick after two wins at Lingfield but stall 1 makes life tricky for his patient running style and his two previous runs on Tapeta – both at Southwell – have resulted in unplaced efforts. The latest of those defeats was blamed by his connections on a slow pace and that looks possible again here. Royal Jet, the 7-2 second favourite at the time of writing, is another who needs a strong gallop and could also prove vulnerable. Bad Habits is drawn higher than ideal in stall 10 but has sufficient early toe to gain a good early position and sit on the heels of possible front-runners No Nay Nevermind and Court Of Session. Stall 1 did for him when third over course and distance last time – he was trapped on the inside and raced keenly – and he’s worth another chance to build on last month’s eye-catching fourth at Southwell when best of those to chase the strong early pace.
4.22 Wolverhampton – Sax Appeal (1pt win – 9/2 generally)
Sax Appeal has a good strike-rate on the all-weather (eight from 28) and runs especially well at this time of year, recording form figures in February of 21111 (4-5) with the wins at 11-1, 15-2, 13-2 and 7-4 for a profit of £25.75 to a £1 level stake at SP. Three of those wins came here at Wolverhampton and Charlie Johnston’s six-year-old has improved since stepped up to 2m of late. It’s never easy to make all over course and distance but he looks value to back at the morning prices.
Newcastle Racing Tips (Friday 6 February 2026)
It is the beginning of a new venture at Newcastle on Friday courtesy of Friday Night Live. Andrew toasts its debut with one tip on the evening card.
8.00 Newcastle – Maximising (1pt win – 4/1 generally)
Maximising, sent off at 80-1, 66-1 and 50-1 in his three runs in maiden/novice company, could only finish a 13-2 fifth of seven when making his handicap debut at Southwell in December but that run was probably needed after a 156-day break and he bounced back to land a 7f 0-75 handicap by two and a half lengths from Captain Parma at Lingfield the following month. He’s been shoved up 6lb by the handicapper, but the time was fast for the grade, and he should again be competitive despite stepping up to Class 4 level.
