We preview the day’s racing at Wolverhampton and then Andrew picks out his trio of best bets for what should be a superb afternoon of competitive Flat racing.
Wolverhampton Racing Tips (Friday 23 January 2026)
Kicking off at 12.57pm, Wolverhampton’s card goes right through until 4.40pm, with Andrew’s best bets running in the 3.02pm and 3.37pm races
3.02 Wolverhampton – Piperstown (1pt win – 6/5 bet365, Unibet, 11/10 generally) & The Cutest (0.5pt e/w – 25/1 generally)
Piperstown clocked a fast time for the grade when a two-length winner in a Class 6 course and distance handicap seven days ago to take his record at Dunstall Park to 11541 (3-5). The fifth place came by just a length and a half when doing best of the closers and he was also best of the hold-up horses when a four-length fourth here last month (he was also poorly drawn). Superior Council should ensure a sound pace and the booking of Billy Loughnane is a plus.
I also want to support the Derek Shaw-trained The Cutest, another one who should be finishing to good effect. The five-year-old is a nine-race maiden but she has run with credit on Tapeta on her last three starts, including a sixth place to Piperstown over course and distance on her latest assignment. The speed figure she clocked that day (the co-best last time out rating according to Proform’s figures) gives her place claims and the very recent run is a profitable angle where her yard’s runners are concerned (since 2016, backing their Wolverhampton runners who were returned to the track within seven days would have found 19 winners from 86 bets for a profit of £17.63 to a £1 level stake at SP).
3.37 Wolverhampton – Beauzon (1pt win – 11/8 generally)
Beauzon usually runs well at this time of year, recording form figures in January and early February of 119311117731 (7-12) for a profit of £26.13 to a £1 level stake at SP. Ian Williams’ seven-year-old had excuses when third over course and distance on his penultimate start, racing keenly after a short break and taking the inside route from his low draw. He bounced back to score at Lingfield six days later and today’s stall 10 draw is unlikely to be a problem, as he can sit on the shoulder of the other pace angle, Eldeyaar, and avoid the inside rail. His five course runs when drawn eight or higher have produced four wins.
