Wolverhampton Racing Tips - Andrew Mount's Best Bets for Monday 5 January

Andrew Mount heads to Wolverhampton‘s all-weather fixture on Monday 5 January for his best bets of the day, as he has a brace of selections across the nine-race card.

We take a look through Andrew’s selections below, where he picks out two 1pt win selections…

Wolverhampton Racing Tips (Monday 5 January 2026)

Nine races kick off at Wolverhampton at 4pm and go right through until 8pm and there’s some competitive action throughout the all-weather card.

7.00 Wolverhampton – Trust No One (1pt win – 7/2 bet365, Sky Bet, Paddy Power)

Newmarket trainer Lemos De Souza has his string in good form, scoring with U S S Charleston (3-1) at Wolverhampton and Marseillan (4-5f) at Lingfield from six runners in the past fortnight. Trust No One, ex-Alice Haynes, was only beaten by just over one length when an 8-1 fifth of eight over 8.6f here last week and his new handler is quick to move him up in trip (9.4f today). The very recent run angle is a huge consideration on the all-weather during a cold snap when it’s hard to get work into horses at home due to frozen gallops and other factors (e.g. staff unable to travel to racing yards). Since New Years’ Eve (and prior to Sunday’s racing at Southwell), simply backing all-weather runners who had raced within the past fortnight, while earning one of the three best last time out speed figures from Proform, would have found 14 winners from 47 bets (29.8% strike-rate) for a profit of £65.42 to a £1 level stake at SP (+£89.58 at Betfair SP after 2% commission). Trust No One is the only qualifier and is worth a punt on a quiet day.

8.00 Wolverhampton – Auntie Jo (1pt win – 3/1 generally)

Auntie Jo is another qualifier on the ‘AW Cold Snap’ system mentioned above, doing well to finish a 20-1 fourth over 6f at Newcastle on New Year’s Day on what was her first run for 248 days. The three who beat her all had the benefit of a recent run and the cut back to 5f is unlikely to inconvenience her. David O’Meara’s four-year-old remains a maiden after 13 starts but that’s the standard we’re dealing with today. Current 15-8 favourite Colors Of Freedom is proving difficult to win with and could help to tee the race up for her.
