The racing in January has suffered some early abandonments due to the weather, but the all-weather meetings at Wolverhampton and Southwell are seeking to beat the cold on Tuesday 6 January.
GG tipster Joe Napier picks out our Lucky 15 best bets for those two meetings on the day, with three selections at Wolverhampton in the afternoon and one from Southwell’s evening card.
Wolverhampton Racing Tips (Tuesday 6 January 2026)
Wolverhampton’s card is the feature of the two all-weather meetings on Tuesday, with a pair of 0-85 handicaps headlining the actions. Two of our three tips at the track come in those contests.
2.15 Wolverhampton – Lady Bouquet (1pt win – 6/1)
Midnight Call is the horse in form, but he has to give 5lb to Lady Bouquet here and that may prove a bridge too far. The selection has recorded two of her five career wins at Wolverhampton, one of those arriving last month over course and distance at 25/1, while she has also made the frame on two further starts at the venue. That she was capable of winning a handicap at any level suggests she can win a classified contest, with her only run since over an inadequate 5f at Newcastle easy to forgive.
3.15 Wolverhampton – Magic Stone (1pt win – 7/2)
Although Augustus Gloop and Baker Blue have all-weather runs and wins to their names, Magic Stone may be able to gazump them in one of the two 0-85 handicaps on the card. He is William Haggas’ only runner on the card and proved a consistent juvenile in 2025, twice finishing second at Chepstow before getting off the mark at Brighton in August. He was then second in a 15-runner nursery at Doncaster’s St Leger meeting which is serious form and his most talented sibling is Stone Of Destiny, a full brother for whom four of his six wins arrived on the all-weather, while the selection’s dam also showed promise on an artificial surface. There is plenty to suggest he will be right at home on Wolverhampton’s Tapeta and a 2lb rise should not prove too harsh for him.
3.45 Wolverhampton – Society Man (1pt win – 7/1)
Top-weight Society Man is of significant interest for Charlie Johnston over this 7f trip and conditions look ideal for him to record a second victory for the yard. The six-year-old was second over course and distance on his stable debut this time, belying 33/1 odds off a mark of 91 to run really well. A disappointing effort next time out at Newcastle begun a drop down the weights, as he failed to land a blow on any of his three turf starts, but he scored at 22/1 at Kempton when returned to an all-weather surface and is just 1lb higher today at the track where he put in his best performance otherwise.
Southwell Racing Tips (Tuesday 6 January 2026)
Southwell’s meeting continues the action on until the evening on Tuesday, with our single selection on the card running in a division of the classified stakes.
5.30 Southwell – Highfield Comrade (1pt win – 4/1)
Still unexposed for a four-year-old after just seven runs, Highfield Comrade can prove up to winning a race of this nature. He is by an unraced colt who was a half-brother to a Group 1 winner, ensuring he has an unusual pedigree, but has shown signs of promise in handicaps, finishing third at Thirsk over 1m4f in August, then finishing fourth over that trip here at Southwell in October. He weakened late on that day off a mark of just 48, but it was a respectable effort that shows he can run well after a break too, and connections have a habit of improving horses from a low level.
