Endowed didn’t show much when I put him up as a small each-way bet in a 7f amateur riders’ handicap at Salisbury last time, but the steady early gallop worked against him and he could never strike a meaningful blow, finishing seventh of the ten runners over a trip that stretches him. That run, just his second of the current campaign, might have been needed and I’m going to chance him again in another amateur race now that he returns to his optimum 6f distance. The John and Rhys Flint-trained nine-year does well at this trip in high summer (June to August) when he’s had a run in the past four weeks, recording form figures of 31182119611 (6-11) for a profit of £9.60 to a £1 level stake at SP (expected wins = 2.80, A/E = 2.14).
8.10 Yarmouth – Banana (1pt win – 2/1 generally)
The Scott Dixon-trained Banana caught the eye when runner-up at Chepstow last time, doing well to finish so close after racing down the middle of the track, well wide of the favoured stands’ side rail. The seven-year-old mare is hardly prolific, scoring just twice from 63 career starts, but she is 0-44 on the all-weather and her turf score of two from 19 is respectable enough at this level. Fast ground suits, she’s the fastest of these on turf according to Proform’s speed figures and she could get a relatively easy time of things on the front end.
