Andrew Mount looks to end the week in fine style and has two tips for the racing on Sunday 6th September. He picks out a whopping 25/1 shot at York, whilst unleashes a 2pt win at Fontwell.
York Racing Tips (Sunday 6 September 2026)
Seven races take place at York on Sunday, with the action kicking off at 1.30pm. You have to wait for the second race of the day on the Knavesmire for his best bet on the card,
2.05 York – Duran (0.5pt e/w – 25/1 William Hill, 22/1 general)
Duran is without a win since May of last year but there are a few reasons why Nigel Tinkler’s five-year-old could bounce back to form this afternoon. The Invincible Spirit gelding is fitted with a visor for the first time and that’s been a positive angle for the yard’s runners over the years, especially more recently. Since the beginning of 2019 five of the 18 qualifiers have won for a huge profit of £75.00 to a £1 level stake at SP, with five of the beaten horses also making the frame. Duran likes flat tracks – his three handicap wins have come at York (twice) and Haydock, and he’s also twice gone close at Doncaster. Cut in the ground is ideal and if we strip out his runs on ground rated firm or good to firm by Proform his turf record stands at four wins from 18 starts for a profit of £17.13. In handicaps of Class 3 or lower and on flat tracks those figures become 717181424 (3-9).
Fontwell Racing Tips (Sunday 6 September 2026)
There’s a six-race National Hunt card at Fontwell, with Andrew having a confident selection in the 4.40pm race.
4.40 Fontwell – Midnight Jewel (2pt win – 11/10 bet365, William Hill)
In-form Charlie Longsdon often makes hay while the sun shines and backing his runners in the June to September period has been a good system over the years, with 160 winners from 811 bets (19.7% strike-rate) for a profit of £93.71 to a £1 level stake at SP (+£228.60 at Betfair SP after 2% commission). Midnight Jewel was unable to contribute in a 2m4f handicap hurdle at Worcester last month, finishing an 11-2 fifth of nine, but the ten-year-old often struggles at that venue where his record now reads 3412635755 (1-10), with the sole success back in July 2022. He has an eight from 23 record on sharp tracks for his current handler, including form figures in the June to September period of 11111412131 (8-11). He’s won on four of his last seven visits to Fontwell, including three chase wins, and the return to the larger obstacles will suit.
