York Racing Tips - Joe Napier's Lucky 15 Tips for Thursday 20 August

The second day of York‘s Ebor meeting takes place on Thursday 20 August. GG tipster Joe Napier has picked out our lucky 15 tips for the day, with all four of his selections running on the Knavesmire.

York Racing Tips (Thursday 20 August)

All four of our Thursday lucky 15 tips run at York’s Ebor meeting, with selections throughout the card on day two of the festival.

2.25 York – Innichen (1pt e/w – 25/1)

It is not Sun Goddess’ 7lb penalty that is an issue so much as her draw in stall 17. She may be good enough to overcome it as a Group 1 winner. However, the far side of the straight track is so often preferable and the size of the field is another factor that makes the Ballydoyle filly opposable. In stall 3, Innichen may offer value for Jack Channon. The Mehmas colt has improved for all five starts. He won at Pontefract and Nottingham after defeats on his first two starts. He was then a close third of 18 in a Glorious Goodwood nursery when slow out the stalls. 6f clearly suits and a stiff finish may do too. He has plenty to find on ratings, but his dam was a soft ground winner, which also offers hope for what the going may do on Thursday.

14:25 Harry’s Half Million By Goffs (GBB Race)

3.00 York – Eternal Force (1pt e/w – 12/1)

Tom Marquand prefers Bullet Point of the William Haggas duo. However, it is the other member, Eternal Force, who is preferred. The four-year-old won three in a row to conclude 2025. He was therefore made a short price for Lincoln to open this campaign. He only finished seventh, but may have needed the run after a break. Eternal Force was subsequently beaten a nose at Hamilton by a classy winner, while 1m2f back on the all-weather may well not have suited last time out at Newcastle. Returning to 1m with a bit of cut should suit as he is twice a winner on good-to-soft. There could easily still be more to come form him.

15:00 Sir Kevin Sinfield 7 In 7 Grand Finale Handicap (Heritage Handicap)

4.10 York – Vauntingly (1pt e/w – 8/1)

Although four-year-olds have claimed the last two renewals, this has been a good race historically for the Classic generation. The standout in this field is Vauntingly given Joseph O’Brien’s superb record with three-year-old fillies this term. O’Brien won both the English and Irish Oaks with different fillies this year. Vauntingly may not have got a look in earlier this term, but she has gradually improved since her debut in May. She got off the mark at the fourth attempt at Killarney last month, winning by just shy of four lengths. She was subsequently second by just a short-head at Gowran Park in Listed company. The third has won a Group 3 since and the selection was ridden quite negatively that day. Now there is proof that she stays and has the class, Dylan Browne McMonagle can be more positive. That should pay for her followers.

16:10 British EBF & Sir Henry Cecil Galtres Stakes (Listed Race) (Fillies & Mares) (GBBPlus Race)

4.45 York – Telegraphic (1pt e/w – 18/1)

Though he has substantial form to overturn with favourite Mia Fantasia, Telegraphic looks overpriced. Charlie Johnston’s charge was beaten on debut by the aforementioned runner, but there is every chance he needed the run given what he has produced since. Sent down to Brighton, the son of Kameko bolted up by seven-and-a-half lengths on his second run. He was subsequently beaten a neck under a winner’s penalty at Yarmouth, but that form is very solid. The fourth, who was nearly seven lengths behind, has won since. As such, Telegraphic should go well, so long as he copes with any cut in the going.

16:45 Mews Hotel Ossett EBF Stallions Nursery Handicap
