Wednesday’s racing centres around the beginning of York’s Dante meeting. Three days of racing at one of the most popular tracks in the country could have a significant bearing on the Epsom Classics in a few weeks’ time.

York Racing Tips (Wednesday 13 May)
The first day of York’s Dante meeting sees seven races go to post. We have three tips on the Knavesmire for you to follow.
2.20 York – Plage De Havre (1pt win – 7/1)
When winning at Haydock last July, Plage De Havre looked like a horse going places quickly. That was just his second win in nine starts, but six of his races prior to that victory had been on the all-weather. Though he had won on an artificial surface, it looks plausible now that he improved for running on turf. He was third in this race 12 months ago off the rating he won off at Haydock. He got stuck for room from stall 1 though and could be considered unlucky. His subsequent four-length victory over Haydock could not have worked out better either. The runner-up, Paddy The Squire, won on his next two starts. He re-opposes, but on 5lb worse terms than when the selection beat him out of sight. Plage De Havre was below par on return in a Listed race on Kempton’s Polytrack. However, he had been off since his win last July and would surely have needed that run. All should now be set fair for him to concede weight all-round.
3.30 York – Elmonjed (1pt win – 14/1)
Another chance is worth giving to Elmonjed now he returns to York. The five-year-old’s form over course and distance reads 3111, with both of his wins in 2025 coming on the Knavesmire. One of those was a handicap success off 97, the latter a Listed win in September. That second success was earned more comfortably than a head winning margin would suggest too. His ninth on return at Newmarket was below par, but he now steps into Group company at a track he so excels at. He has some form to overturn, but if he is going to do so anywhere, it will be here. For a track and trip specialist rated 105, his odds are too big to ignore.
4.05 York – Legacy Link (1pt win – 11/8)
Legacy Link is immaculately bred and should confirm her Oaks aspirations in the Musidora Stakes. She is a daughter of Dubawi out of Chiasma, a full sister to Frankel no less. Although not an immediate hit on the racecourse, she was third in what has proven a very handy maiden on the July Course at Newmarket last August. She easily scored next time out at Haydock before an ambitious tilt at the Group 1 Fillies’ Mile. She ran a promising race that day, finishing fourth behind Precise. Although the winner failed to fire in the 1000 Guineas subsequently, the second and third filled the same positions (in reverse order) in that Classic. She was also two lengths ahead of the opposing Moments Of Joy. If able to give her best on this slightly delayed return to action, there should be few doubts she will stay this distance. She may simply prove a class above her rivals.
Yarmouth Racing Tips (Wednesday 13 May)

2.40 Yarmouth – Kinswoman (1pt win – 9/4)
Strange as it may seem in a 13-runner handicap, but Kinswoman may well be value at greater than 2/1. The Cheveley Park-owned three-year-old is unlucky not to be unbeaten over 5f. She dropped to that trip on her sixth start, after failing to win over 6f and 7f previously. That proved the making of her, as she won handsomely at WIndsor and Chester. Up 8lb for her first handicap success on the Roodee, she was denied by just a head at York in an 18-runner handicap in October. That was as competitive a sprint as you will find and she was drawn less favourably than the winner. She made amends comfortably enough at Haydock to conclude 2025 on a winning note. Up another 5lb, she looks set to improve considerably again this term. It would be a surprise if she were not ready to fire.
