With the Cheltenham Festival behind us Andrew Mount now heads to Uttoxeter on Saturday 14 March for his best bets of the day. With four selections at the Staffordshire track, our top tipster has five selections on Midlands Grand National day.
Uttoxeter Racing Tips (Saturday 14 March 2026)
Seven races take place at Uttoxeter on Saturday with a 1.50pm. Andrew has five selections throughout the card, so see who he fancies here.
2.25 Uttoxeter – Santos Blue (0.5pt e/w – 22/1 William Hill) & John Barbour (0.5pt e/w – 7/1 generally)
Olly Murphy’s Santos Blue needed his seasonal/stable debut when a respectable 40-1 fifth of 15 to French Ship at Newbury in late November and he reportedly lost a shoe when sixth the Chepstow the following month. The nine-year-old tended to peak post-New Year when with Dan Skelton, and might be following the same pattern for his new yard, with January’s 14-1 Sandown second to course expert Henri The Second taking his record in the January to March period to 11101212 (5-8) for a profit of £25.38 to a £1 level stake at SP. He won o heavy ground at this meeting two years ago and the recent rain will help.
John Barbour clocked a fast time when a neck second over 2m3.5f at Ascot on his latest assignment and he looks interesting now stepping up in trip to this extended 2m7f. Fergal O’Brien’s seven-year-old has Uttoxeter form figures of 111 (3-3) and it’s worth taking a chance on his stamina.
3.00 Uttoxeter – Rock My Way (0.5pt e/w – 18/1 bet365, William Hill)
Last season’s Scottish National fifth Rock My Way has improved for a summer wind operation, scoring over the extended 3m5f trip at Ascot on his second start and bouncing back from a modest effort in the Welsh National (his patient style wasn’t ideal that day) to run second to Transmission in the Edinburgh National. He jumped out to his left on the sharp right-handed track that day and will be happier back in this direction. He has a lot of weight to carry but is a good trends-fit for this race, having been rested for at least five weeks before this run and before his latest one, and prepped in a handicap chase. Such runners are eight from 33 in the past ten years for a profit of £64.00 to a £1 level stake at SP (+£99.34 at Betfair SP after 2% commission). Only he and Aworkinprogress qualify this year.
3.35 Uttoxeter – As The Fella Says (1pt win – 11/4 bet365, 5/2 generally)
Nicky Henderson’s As The Fella Says broke his duck over fences at the fourth attempt when coming home almost five lengths clear of Major Fortune in a 2m7.5f Class 3 handicap chase at Newbury last month and can continue to progress by taking this novices’ handicap. The seven-year-old had caught the eye when runner-up at Southwell on his chase debut in mid-November where he raced on the slowest part of the track and it looks like a flat track is ideal. He clocked a very fast time for his latest effort, putting him clear of this field and those higher up the weights have done well in this race.
4.45 Uttoxeter – Kallista Love (1.5pt win – 2/1 generally)
Kalista Love was asked to make up her ground too quickly to get on the heels of the leaders when third to House Of Habsburg in a 3m1.5f handicap chase at Warwick on her penultimate start and had nothing left at the business end, finishing just over nine lengths behind the winner. This was her first attempt beyond 2m5f and the return to that trip saw her win by seven lengths at Fakenham next time, clocking some impressive sectionals in the process. She steps out of mares-only company again here but the small field will suit and she’s worth a bet to follow up.
