12.35pm Musselburgh – British Stallion Studs EBF Restricted Maiden Stakes
Eight two-year-olds line up for this Class 2 restricted maiden over 7f 15y on Good To Soft ground. It carries the biggest prize of the day, £16,200 to the winner, and only three of the field have an official rating.
- Top-rated: True Heart is rated 75, 11lb clear of So Farhh (64) and 14lb clear of Frontier Legend (61). The other five are unrated.
- Recent form: True Heart (form 752) was second over 6f on the all-weather 13 days ago. So Farhh (form 653) has been placed in each of his last two runs for Tim Easterby.
- Hannon raider: Sequoiadendron was third of 11 on her 7f all-weather debut nine days ago. Richard Hannon carries the top course trainer flag, and she has the long traveller flag.
- Furtado pair: Ivan Furtado runs True Heart and Talora. Talora was well held in two all-weather runs last month.
- Debutant and headgear: Eversabi (Jack Jones) makes his debut. Unlawfilly wears cheekpieces after two runs in Ireland, with top course jockey Sam James up.

66/1 Frontier Legend, 7/1 Eversabi, 15/2 So Farhh, 9/4 Sequoiadendron, 100/1 Talora, 11/10 True Heart, 100/1 Unlawfilly, 8/1 Wild Mary’s Rose
Verdict
A reproduction of the form TRUE HEART showed when second over 6f on AW a couple of weeks ago would likely make her hard to beat. Richard Hannon’s Sequoiadendron showed promise on her recent AW debut and is likely to provide the main threat. [Andrew Sheret]

True Heart1.50pm Nottingham – Experience Hospitality At Nottingham Racecourse Novice Stakes
Ten runners go to post for this Class 3 novice over 1m6f on Soft ground. It’s an unusual mix: two jumpers making long-awaited returns, and a group of three-year-olds stepping up in trip.
- Jumpers on the Flat: Salver (Jamie Moore & Josh Moore) was placed in Grade 1 novice chases and makes his first Flat start in Britain after 1,309 days off. Secret Squirrel (Hughie Morrison), a useful hurdler, returns after 974 days.
- Hot trainers: James Owen is 17 from 63 (27%) in the last 14 days. Temple makes his debut for the yard after 126 days off, with a new trip and cheekpieces. Andrew Balding (11 from 41, 27%) runs Marquetry, placed in her last two runs around 1m3f.
- Ratings: Temple tops the ratings on 76, ahead of Marquetry (74), Velardo and Corallience (both 70) and Train In Vain (69).
- Course flags: Indhaar runs for William Haggas with Cieren Fallon up, and both carry the top course flag. He was placed at 1m2f in both starts and was a beaten favourite last time.
- Quick return: The Resdev Tyke was second in a heavy-ground 1m2f novice nine days ago.

11/2 Salver, 10/1 Secret Squirrel, 9/1 The Resdev Tyke, 50/1 Velardo, 50/1 Ace Artist, 7/4 Indhaar, 7/2 Temple, 40/1 Train In Vain, 40/1 Corallience, 4/1 Marquetry
Verdict
An intriguing novice, in no small part due to the return of quality chaser Salver (second choice). Alongside Secret Squirrel he adds a fair bit of spice but it may prove safer to side with Andrew Balding’s MARQUETRY, who is already up to a fair level and could do better granted this stiffer test of stamina. Indhaar certainly has the ability to play a big part, alongside Temple, while Train In Vain is a likely outsider who may reward each-way support.[Richard Russell]
3.10pm Wexford – Michael Hickey Memorial Chase
The only Listed race of the day is a six-runner chase over 2m7f on Yielding ground. Five of the six have been off for at least two months.
- Top-rated: The Big Westerner is rated 143 and carries 11st 3lb, 4lb clear of Bossofthebrownies and Rockys Diamond (both 139).
- Return from a break: The Big Westerner has been off 312 days and ran only twice last season. She has won over the trip, and Henry de Bromhead carries the top course trainer flag.
- Second last year: Rockys Diamond was second in this race last year and ran 68 days ago.
- Hot jockey: Jack Kennedy rides The Enabler for Gordon Elliott and is 7 from 26 (27%) in the last 14 days. The Enabler has been off 212 days and was behind Bossofthebrownies at Naas.
- Fresh v rested: Sandor Clegane ran 22 days ago, the most recent of the field. He has won one of his 12 starts over fences.

Verdict
When this fixture was originally scheduled last week, THE BIG WESTERNER was a shorter-priced favourite than might have been predicted, given that she has to concede weight to geldings who are not far behind her on official ratings. She can be assumed to be well primed for her return and may see off a likely challenge from Bossofthebrownies, who had smart handicapper The Enabler behind in a Grade 3 event at Naas in January. Verdict
The shortlist is headed by COSI BELLO (narrowly preferred) and Valvano who both look interesting back on AW, with a combined record of 3-4 in this sphere between them. Berkshire Whisper, who is well handicapped assuming he proves suited by the new trip, is third choice. A couple of the others also have possibilities.[Steve Boow]
