Sandown stages an all-hurdle card on Sunday, with Ffos Las also racing in Britain. Andrew Mount has horses to watch at both Sandown and Ffos Las, taking a pair of runners out of two races, as he attempts to end the week on a high.
2.27 Ffos Las – Bound For Glory (1pt win – 11/2 bet365, Hills, 5/1 general)
The form of Harbour Light’s 2m7.5f Class 5 handicap hurdle victory at Chepstow on October 11th received a boost yesterday when the winner followed in comfortable fashion in a Class 4 handicap at Uttoxeter. The Robert Stephens-trained Bound For Glory was only two lengths behind Harbour Light at Chepstow when ridden by amateur jockey Imogen Mathias and looks worth a punt to go one better under Sean Houlihan this afternoon.
The cut back in trip to 2m4f could suit and the four-year-old clocked a good time at Chepstow, putting him miles clear of today’s rivals on Proform’s last time out speed figures.
4.00 Sandown – Out In De Wild (1pt win – 2/1 Hills, though bigger than 3-1 on Betfair and likely to drift)
I’ve always associated Sandown success with the Gary Moore yard, but Alan King has a good recent record here (under both codes). Since the beginning of 2021, backing the in-form handler’s course runners would have found 20 winners from, 108 bets for a huge profit of £51.28 to a £1 level stake at SP (+£89.72 at Betfair SP after 2% commission) and his Out In De Wild looks interesting in this bumper.
King has only had one bumper runner here in the study period – Charisma Cat who on at 7-4 in March 2025 – and the five-year-old, runner-up in a n Irish point when we last saw hum 546 days ago, has had a wind operation prior to his debut under Rules. His trainer has only given a debutant w wind operation on two previous occasions (since January 2018 when the surgery had to be declared) and both won.
