The GG Hot List checks every runner in Britain and Ireland against five signals: market support, independent naps, course form, trainer form and the jockey’s record at the course. Today’s leader is Newfangled in the 20:00 at Wolverhampton, the only runner with three signals among ten qualifiers. It has two naps, has won three of its five starts at Wolverhampton, and Billy Loughnane has ridden 169 winners from 848 rides at the track. The price has shortened from 11/2 to 7/2.
How the GG Hot List works
A runner needs at least two of the five signals below, and at least one of them must be market support or naps. That way, everything on the list has attracted attention today.
- Market: the median bookmaker price at least 30% shorter, with ten or more bookmakers cutting by 20% or more.
- Naps: two current naps, or one from a tipster with a top-three nap record over the past 28 days.
- Course: at least two wins at today’s course, with a strike rate of 25% or better there.
- Trainer: 25% winners or better from at least ten runners over the previous 14 days.
- Jockey: a strike rate of 18% or better from at least 50 rides at the course.
Runners whose price has drifted since it opened are left out. The list is ranked by number of signals, then market move, then number of naps. It contains no more than ten runners, the thresholds are not lowered on a quiet day, and non-runners are excluded before publication. Ten runners qualify today. Galway’s meeting has been abandoned, so the list is drawn from Bangor, Catterick, Newcastle and Wolverhampton.

What our expert thinks
GG racing writer Billy Grimshaw on today’s list topper, Newfangled:
“Newfangled tops the list on its record at Wolverhampton rather than the market. Three wins from five starts here is a strong course record, it’s top-rated in the field on 88 and Billy Loughnane rides a track he knows well. The recent form is the worry. The last six runs read 646437, so it hasn’t won for a while. The money has also come for Ted Le Saux in the same race, from 8/1 to 10/3, and Oisin Murphy rides that one. I can see why Newfangled is on the list, but at 7/2 I don’t think there’s much left in the price.”
Billy Grimshaw, GG

Whose NAP to trust
These are the nap tipsters with the best strike rate over the 28 days to Monday 26 October, and their picks today:
- BGTips.co.uk: 14 winners from 27 naps (52%). Today: Rattlin Home, 14:16 Bangor.
- Computeform (The Racing App): 12 winners from 28 naps (43%). Today: Rattlin Home, 14:16 Bangor.
- Jeffrey Ross (Sporting Times): 11 winners from 28 naps (39%). Today: What A Go I’ve Had, 17:30 Wolverhampton.
Rattlin Home shares the title of most-napped horse with Laughing John in the Mount Vines Novices’ Handicap Chase at 15:16 Bangor, which also has four naps. Naps are Laughing John’s only signal and the price has shortened only from 5/1 to 4/1, with 2 of 23 bookmakers cutting, so it misses the list. You can see every nap in Today’s Naps Table.
Biggest backed moves this morning
The three biggest market moves of the morning all miss the Hot List because none has a second signal:
- Zoulu Warrior (18:30 Wolverhampton): 25/1 to 15/2, a 67% move.
- Loulou Madrik (15:31 Newcastle): 9/1 to 5/2, a 65% move.
- Our Planet (20:30 Wolverhampton): 14/1 to 5/1, a 60% move.
These are price movements, not recommendations.
How yesterday’s Hot List did
Monday’s Hot List had five runners, and two of the four that ran won. Toastmaster (13/8) came from towards the rear at Southwell and led inside the final furlong to win by a length and a half, and Imperial Ballet (6/4) made all in the Kempton novice stakes. List topper Thunder Roar (4/1) rallied to finish fourth at Redcar, beaten about a length, while Lady Roxby (4/1) was sixth at Southwell, beaten around five and a half lengths and never dangerous. Jetzet was a non-runner at Hereford because of the ground. A £1 win bet on each runner at starting price returned £5.13 from £4 staked, a profit of £1.13. Past performance is not a guide to future results.
Prices checked at 08:30 GMT on Tuesday 27 October and subject to change. Market moves use median bookmaker prices; trainer form covers 13 October to 26 October.
